I have a project Gottlieb World Champ which has termites. It pains me to have to, but I am parting it out. If anyone needs anything non-wood please let me know. I'm just trying to make back what I paid for it, not profit. It has a new Shay repro backglass and Pinball Rescue plastics.

If it isn't structurally damaged, you can have it fumigated, and can save it. Where did it come from, Florida?

#5 7 years ago

I don't know its history but there's lots of little holes in the cab, rails, and bottom of playfield, which is also separating. The playfield is pretty rough to begin with. If it were a nicer game I would consider fumigating, but honestly its pretty roached. I will post pics tomorrow....

Kruzman has a reproduction Playfield. Have him clear coat it as he did for mine. Really really sweet!!

Those are not termites, those are powder post beetles. I own a pest control company. It can be saved by fumigating all wood parts in fumigation vault. Look for a local company that has a vault and ask if you can save some money and bring it in when room is available.

If thats the case then I definitely want to save it. Are they likely to spread to my house? I had the game inside for a few days.

#10 7 years ago

Should be ok, I would bet this game came out of a damp environment

#11 7 years ago

That game looks eminently restorable. Try to save it, or maybe stretch wrap it and pass it on to someone who will.

#12 7 years ago

Yeah, I'm looking into having it fumigated. The last thing I want to do is burn it.

#13 7 years ago

I'd save it! It's a good game.

You're crazy! For the age of that machine, the playfield looks to be in really good condition.

The playfield is actually really rough. It looks way better in the pics

Those are powder beatles like the man says. I have seen this in plenty of old gottlieb pf's and they suck!!
That game is a high dollar collectible, I dont know where you are located, but if it is CA it will sell no prob. and yes I have an awesome pf for it. I would like to have a restored or even nice version. great game.

yea, those tunnel holes are a dead giveaway. I've had to restore playfields from these beetles already.

I think the pin is in the NE US. Are these beetles native to all parts of the country?

I am going to have the game treated and eventually sell...I have another nicer WC that is my keeper. I am in NJ and have seen similar holes and powdery sawdust in firewood piles.
