Working on a Big Indian and the ball count is not showing. Any idea where this lose wire should be attached on the player stepper? I see no solder joint that looks like it had been connected.

I don't know ... but this is my observation

I am not sure why the wire is as long as it is though

Connect that wire to the frame of the Player Unit and see if the Ball in Play lights start working. That wire should be soldered to a ring terminal screwed to the frame.

What color is the wire?

I read on another forum it is a ground. I put a alligator clip jump and grounded it and it all works now. Thank you all for your suggestions and tips.
