Where were you? Do you remember?
The couple embraced together in the famous picture are still together and recreated the photo.

I was home, wishing I was there. Wife _was_ there.

Seeing the Director's Cut of the movie in a theater with friends Thursday night was a hoot and a half.

Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. AKA Fort Lost-In-The-Woods, Misery.

I had some friends hitch hike there. Wanted me to go with. Concerts in this area were changing. Instead of a few hours of good music, 2 or 3 hundred people. No police or security. You could talk to the band and stuff. And then about a year and a half before Woodstock all of a sudden 10,000 show up, police and security. An hour or two of crappy music. Couldn't get close to the band.

I thought no way I wanted to hitch hike there and sit in a corn field full of people and listen to music that may be good or bad. And no Rolling Stones. So I didn't go.

I'm not sad I missed it. It was the greatest music event in modern times. But people tend to look back on it with rosy glasses. You can listen to live recordings on Youtube, music wasn't that good. All the peace, love, brotherly stuff, well if you found food. Wade through that crowd and see how much you had left. Not to mention all the mud. And miles and miles of walking.

I'm glad it happened. I'm glad people got to go and experience it.
