Picked this up yesterday for $500 CDN, took the day off work to get it. The back glass has a bit of paint loss but not in important areas, playfield and inside filthy and the cabinet is repainted. No broken plastics and it seems reasonably unmolested. Oh, it also had metal legs. Should be fun!

Thanks for the explanation, that's pretty neat. That would be a hard feature to test then. ??

You would need to manipulate the steppers, I am sure it can be simulated! Once it is all cleaned up and working I will try.

Pretty nice looking game, paint on the cabinet looks great! I love your passion for these old machines at 18 years old -- I wish my son was interested in something other than video games!

If you have Paypal, PM me your address and I am going to kick in $20 for your plastics set!

Well, ideally would prefer marbled original and at the moment it doesn't fit very well but unable to find 2 screws and washers like on this one.

Those look like cup washers.....

Here is a sad Snafu for sale: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-oeuvre-d-art/ville-de-montreal/pinball-antique-williams-1955/1256719726

It doesn't look TOO terrible except someone has hacked off the front of the cabinet so they could fit standard pinball legs, and the original wood legs that afix to the side are gone. That would be a lot of work to fix....someone was parting out a Snafu here, wonder if they still have the legs (or hell, the cab!).

Looks like a decent gameplay layout with goals though. Diggin' the art/theme. Worth the resto to play, imho.
Tempting if it were closer to me, darnit.

Someone from maaca.org might be able to grab it. I figure you could biscuit the tapered front back on, making new legs might not be too bad. At least it has the original paint (maybe), here's another one: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-video-games-consoles-other/ouest-de-lile-qc/pinball-machine/1256916432?null painted black, ugh!

Galaxian was parting out a Snafu a while back -- I actually bought the coin door off him for my Williams Spitfire. Wonder if he has the legs.

Someone has been trying to sell this Marathon forever, down to $495 CDN:

Any comments on this game?

Quoted from wayner:

Conscious that your original post was some weeks back but thought I would share my approach. That is to take a tracing paper take of the original on the cab & then transfer it to MDF board using a jigsaw for cutout. I have found this to be the cheapest, quickest & best method for obtaining the stencil 'bleed' per original paint. This is a set of stencils I recently made to repaint a GTB Flying Carpet. Cab & backbox sides are mirror reserve so only one stencil needed of each colour.

Doing the same as you with 1/8" MDF board but using a laser cutter to cut the stencils. This I can do for free at my local library. Nothing like watching a laser cutter do a dozen perfect circles!

Quoted from tfduda:

Questions about repainting a woodrail cabinet: Does anyone have recommendations for using a finish coat after painting (e.g., something like a krylon satin finish like on the following site)? And does anyone have a good method for painting circles?
https://www.krylon.com/products/satin-finish/
I like how the painting is turning out so far (will post pictures when done), but haven’t the experience to know whether or not a final finish coat is worthwhile. The spray paints I am using are satin finish and are reasonable matches to original color and finish. My gut instinct is to not mess up what is already appearing to be a good final product, but the notion of having a bit of an outer protective layer is tempting.
And thank goodness for all of the straight lines on the Twin Bill cabinet—using thin metal bars negates the need for many stencils! I suppose I’ll need to to make circle stencils for the backbox, but am hoping someone has an easier method.

You can use a laser cutter to cut perfect circles in 1/8" MDF. Did that on Spitfire: https://images.pinside.com/9/a3/9a30b8dcefd9509117a26cfed0ccf32ba23b8f90/resized/large/9a30b8dcefd9509117a26cfed0ccf32ba23b8f90.jpg

Quoted from tfduda:

I put together a video of gameplay of Colors. I tried to record a game where I won multiple stars but they are few and far between. I did at least win a star on the first ball in the game featured in the video.

I’ve got a Spitfire with the star feature. Where did you get the tray liner for Colors ?
I’d like one for my Spitfire.

Thanks, I'll revisit the graphic I have for the apron -- it came from someone else who was restoring a Spitfire, kind of forgot I had it.

If anyone needs it, it is in the gallery -- https://pinside.com/pinball/machine/spitfire-williams/gallery

Would love to have a scan of a trashed original to work from; as I have doubts about whether all of the fonts / kerning etc. are correct on it, and I am particular about these things.
