Quoted from Gotemwill:

Did they say whether they were getting more? Hearing that kind of stuff always makes me nervous.

He said his supply was from the 80’s so I didn’t bother asking.

Wagon Train is heading West!
1,900 miles to go.

I do have a few woodrails, but mostly metal rails..
From what I see on the IPDB, Gottlieb 1952 "Happy Days" seems to be
an enjoyful player. I have a chance trading in a working one, and it looks
okay from the pics..
Might anyone have a Happy Days set up, and if so, what's your thoughts? (T)

I do not own one, however I have played in the past. The artwork is very attractive. The gameplay in my opinion gets repetitive and lackluster quickly. If I was going to make a trade for it, I would not be giving up something I enjoy playing.

No, it's not anything I really play, but something I put on Craigs List and maybe asked less than what
I could have gotten for it. I got many hits, and the Happy Days seem to be my best bet at the moment,
and probably a better trading piece than what I'm selling, and then again, I may hang onto the Happy
Days, or at least until I once again run out of room.. Thanks for the response..

Can anyone tell me how the coin mechs work on the woodrails? Specifically I have a 1948 United Paradise and when I slide the coin receiver in, it gets stuck and wont come back out. I am trying to get everything working the way it should before I try to power it on for the first time in 70 years.

The Wagon Train has finally made it to the Rocky Mountains.

Now to get it on legs and gone through and every contact cleaned to get it up and running.

I call that game "the most wedgehead-like woodrail".
On the other hand, "Sweet Hearts" would make a passable woodrail.
Nice pick up.

Thanks, yeah. The gameplay is very fun. My mother and I played it at the Manitou Penny Arcade here in Colorado and she really liked it so this is going in her collection once I get it working.

I ordered a set of roto stickers from Arcade Rescue before they closed up shop so I should be getting those soon.

I have them around someplace, but a quick question on Williams 1958 Gusher.
Are the legs 28.5" Also I'm thinking they're suppose to be red, and should Sea Wolf's
legs be red?
Thanks for any responses..

Both should have red metal legs.
The original legs splayed out a bit in order to provide adequate spacing between games placed in a row. I believe they are 31" legs.

31"? I wouldn't have thought that. I'm pretty sure when I got the Gusher in it
came with red legs. I'll look in the barn for some 31" red legs. I can't remember
what color the Sea Wolf's were when it came in, but when the time comes, I'll
make sure to put on some red ones..

https://pinballmedics.ca/product/williams-non-ribbed-chrome-legs-set-of-4/

Gottlieb were always 31 inches.

Think Williams were 28.5 non-ribbed.

And red.

I'm not sure about the wooden, but I was thinking Williams metal legs were 28.5".
Another question. Anyone hear of a Chicago Coin titled "Golden Ball?"
As of now, I only know it's light scoring and the Flippers are facing the traditional (modern)
way. He said it's absolutely Golden Ball, and its a Chicago Coin.
I'm waiting on pics myself..
Edit: Turns out I was givin' incorrect information. It's called Gold Ball and it's pre-flipper.
I found it to be a 1947 Chicago Coin. Probably nothing special, or might it be?

I think they are 31" red for late 50s. Here's my Satellite leg. Seems like the correct height. The cabinet is quite shallow. (Leveler is down an inch on that corner)

Damn, I checked and have a few older looking red legs, and all but one were 31"
When Gusher came in, I'm pretty sure they were freshly painted legs, so I figured
not any of those 31s came with Gusher, so I just sanded, primed, and painted some
28.5" Last Fall while cleaning and clearing out the addition's upstairs, things got shuffled.
In the Winter I'll be doing more extensive projects, but Gusher was shopped when getting
in, so it should be a fairly quick freshening upper and the next rainy day(s) project..

Thinking 28.5" was the way to go and only finding one in red, I grabbed a set of old looking
28.5" light gray legs (probably C.C.) and painted them red.
Not sure how many, but I know there's extra legs stached in the far corner where I got them..

I got it. Stones, Paint it Black......
By the way, the original legs are a little different design from later styles. The bottom is formed by bending both sides into the middle. Then a separate threaded plate is spot welded that accepts the leveler. I also noticed they a slightly more flimsy than later 70s style. The steel is a bit thinner.

Okay, I'll look for that style legs, but if no luck, not having exact doesn't bother me myself a whole
lot. As long as they look decent.
Pretty sure I got that machine in with decent looking repainted legs, but who's to say if they were
original or not..

I have to look at ones I have.
I know what you mean about the base. Some are square at the base, and some are kind of rounded off.

Does anyone here have a 1948 United Paradise that could send me pictures of the stepper units and coin mech? Trying to get one up and running.

Hi,
My Aquacade looks similar. If you need more pictures, just ask.

Well, Gusher is back on its feet standing tall on its 31" legs.
It's been a few years, but it had been shopped when getting in, and
although they're free, I'm going to at least go through the steppers
before plugging in..
As far as pins, the only Replay machine that's set up is Star Jet.
Gusher is the same as most Replay machines with 5 balls inserted,
right? (T)

Yes, would likely be 5 balls for replay. I noticed your legs have square corners inside, as apposed to round. Also, door must have been .....Painted, painted, painted, painted black!.....

These are non ribbed, rounded base, and just a hair under 31".
I can't recall which game they came from.

Has to be either "Arrow Head", "Rocket", "Reno", or "Jig Saw".
"Arrow Head" seems to be the first Williams pinball game with metal legs.

Well, I had a fairly open afternoon, so I freshened up the steppers on
Gusher. Made a few contact adjustments. Cleaned/waxed the playfield.
Worked on a few light sockets, and she's back in action..
It was 90% led'd when getting in, so I left her the same.
Not that I played an extreme amount, but for me myself, the best single
player Replay machine that I had played up to this point..
I believe it's the 1st woodrail (pinball) I'll actually have set up in a line
up, and now having a little more room, I'm sure there will be a few others..
And one nice little surprise. It actually does get only 1 ball inserted..
And yea. When the pop bumper is up and the ball lands in the upper kicker
hole. The pop bumper drops down, the upper kicker kicks the ball down to
the kicker that's at the bottom of the horseshoe type deal. Then that kicker
kicks it back up to the upper kicker which activates the pop bumper to rise
again. A nice little feature Harry threw in there..
btw: I took the pic waist high so JR wouldn't ride my ass about those damn ribs..

Been quite busy outdoors, but now and then I snucked in the game room and worked on the Sea Wolf.
Have her pretty much ready for the line up to put next to her cousin.
Gusher's lower playfield indicates it got some use in its day, but no noticeable effect on its performance.
With a little nudge, the slings can still bring the ball to the top and I do like it's game play quite a bit..
Now Sea Wolf's playfield is very respectable. The play meter works, but not so sure if it's been flipped.
There's a little ball marking along the upper arch, but very minimum..

Your Gusher PF looks in similar shape to mine, especially KOHole wear and general wear&flaking across the selector lights field.

#1441 2 years ago
Quoted from pinwiztom:

And I understand there's others much worse, and it doesn't surprise me a whole lot.
I'm into Add-a-Balls, but Gusher I do like. I'd have to think many had plenty of nickles/
dimes dropped in them. On mine, the Play Meter works and registers 7843, but I'm sure
that's been flipped, and most likely a few times..
Now and then giving her a decent wax is the best bet I suppose..

Still favor Gusher, but getting into Sea Wolf.
All lit numbers out on playfield, all lit on backglass.
Not (at least for me) so easy to do..

What a treasure!

What game is next in the queue?

#1445 2 years ago
Quoted from stashyboy:

Yea, I didn't get it in that Special hole, but if I did, having both
the red and blue 1-7 targets hit, it would have gave 2 Replays.
One for each set..

#1446 2 years ago
Quoted from Gotemwill:

What game is next in the queue?

Because I've been asked to get it set up for quite some time,
I think I'll maybe stay with the Williams woodrails and go through
the Nags keeping the string going. 58, 59, and 60. And then maybe
go through some reverse Wedge Heads, but might first slip 1961
Skill Ball in there..

#1447 2 years ago

Sea Wolf playfield looks interesting. Bet it is fun to play.

#1448 2 years ago
Quoted from NoQuarters:

Sea Wolf playfield looks interesting. Bet it is fun to play.

Yea. For not being far from strictly into Add-Balls, I'm liking Sea Wolf.
Went through a Gusher earlier, which I still like better, but I might say.
Sea Wolf seems to be closing in.
Once the ball is on the lower half, it's a challenge getting it back to the
top, but possible. With those upper Flippers and 2 active Thumpers,
you're able to sometimes keep it up there for a while..
I feel one reason the playfield's in pretty good shape is because when popping
out of the 2 lower kick out holes, the sling's rubbers absorb the ball's landing.
I studied it coming out of the kick-outs for a little while, and I feel safe to
say that the ball hits the slings' rubber rings just before making contact on the
playfield. Consist on both sides.

12
#1449 2 years ago

Well, Sea Wolf's been played enough.
I'm confident she's ready for the line up.
It may have takin' 62 years, but she now
found her Forever Home..

I'm thinking this one gets 28.5" red legs, right?
