Quoted from dashv:

Fast forward to now. Pinball has picked up considerably (maybe in part due to Pinball FX and Pinball Arcade reviving broad interest and partly old favorites coming back as remakes). And you have innovators like JJP redefining what one can expect from pinball.

You forgot the part about the booming economy. lol

However as a wise man once said, what goes up, must come down.

#421 82 days ago
Quoted from dashv:

Whatever the reasons I just feel Stern, JJP and all cannot assume folks will continue to put up with this kind of value uncertainty for their dollars.

Especially if the economy takes a tumble and/consumer confidence in the product wanes.

Quoted from Who-Dey:

my friends that are not rich that saved up their hard earned money for their POTC games

They should have stuck with mac n cheese.

#546 81 days ago
Quoted from BMore-Pinball:

I'm going to check my maiden when I get home
I cancelled my wonka ce and may cancel JP

Feeling really uneasy now

You should actually be feeling a lot more at ease now.

Quoted from Budman:

McDonalds forgets to put the third pickle on a hamburger, consumers complain and Mcd’s responds immediately.

I hate it when they put pickles on my burger when I ask for without. And their response is to just pull them off and hand me back the same burger. Then I gotta send it back again.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier and best for all involved if they took the time and effort to do it right the first time?

#554 81 days ago
Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Sadly going forward, any recent game I think about purchasing, the first thing I will be looking for is pooling or hopefully be able to buy a non pooling game.
Crazy really.

What was the last pool themed game? Billiards or swimming, doesn't matter.

#558 81 days ago
Quoted from yancy:

Be a lot easier to just eat the pickles or take 'em off yourself.

Easier maybe, but not what I paid for. That would be like putting a decal on a chipping playfield. Just never liked them or the juice they leave behind. I don't do cucumbers either. But will eat just about anything else.

I am a firm believer in doing something right the first time, and correct it quickly when informed something about the way it is being done is wrong. But I'm not in the pinball manufacturing industry.

#559 81 days ago
Quoted from gliebig:

So you want a Michael Phelps themed pin?
Now you've really gone off....the deep end.

Sounds kinda cool to me!

My opinion on this is it is cheap eco friendly materials and not the best, hardest wood causing most of this.

To have used the best possible materials, which are probably available, would have too much affected the all important bottom line. Just my opinion of course.

Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:

Jurassic Park pros are already chipping. Someone posted pics in other playfield thread about issues.

Is that a crack coming out from under the left lower sling post?

#584 81 days ago

Crackgate exposed!

#598 81 days ago
Quoted from jimwe5t:

Have done more research on this and found that JJP/Mirco is using water based clear instead of two pack polyurethane because of the environmental impact of the fumes pollution in our homes.

Or they are admitting they are having a problem with pinsiders.

When you are using that dude as a spokesman for your product or product fix, you must be getting desperate.

#1186 75 days ago
Quoted from cooked71:

The collector cares about all of it.....appearance, reliability, collectability, playability, replayability, re-saleability, performance etc etc

Not quite all of it when it comes to pinball.

The most important thing a pinball machine is designed to do as a coin operated commercial machine is to take quarters or dollar bills and I'm not sure many pinball collectors have explored, used, or even care about that aspect on the machines they own.

#1189 75 days ago

It's a fine line when you start thinking of new commercial or industrial machines as collectors items, that's for sure.

#1248 74 days ago

OK, I'm just going to come out and say it. What I've been thinking for some time.

The way Charlie cares about his product and customers, and the way he communicates with them as compared to what else I'm reading on this forum,

Spooky could very well be the last one's standing when all the dust settles.

There, I said it. Somebody needed to.

carry on....

#1259 74 days ago
Quoted from vireland:

So, does that mean if JJP agrees to send out a few dozen unpopulated replacement playfields and their PF problem is fixed for their machines moving forward, they're off the hook, too?

All they gotta do is do that and announce Toy Story, Harry Potter, or Jaws, and you might be surprised how fast the affected will forgive and forget.

#1275 74 days ago
Quoted from greenhornet:

frankly, im tired of it.

I know a great place for some r+r where you can take some time and regroup.

The way I see it is if anybody that has read any of these threads or knows about these issues from either company and buys another new game and ends up with the same issues, he or she has nothing to complain about and the only person at fault is him or herself.

#1392 73 days ago
Quoted from Pinballer67:

agreed...I ain't buying NUTHIN until this gets fixed beyond a doubt!
well, maybe Spooky. My ACNC is perfect, thanks Charlie and Co for being a stand-up company!

I won't be the one telling my unboxing horror story knowing what we know now.

I would feel stupid for doing so, and it would be downright embarrassing.

And even after they figure it out if they ever do, there will still be plenty of boxed up horror stories waiting to be delivered.

#1406 73 days ago

No real answers of the cause only "working on a program"

Wonder how different that is than the current program of customers buying a replacement for their brand new machines.

#1412 73 days ago

I'm still chuckling about

Quoted from Dr-pin:

Rofl thoose two mumbleing drones.
Ah, um, ah.

And "working on a program" Either you have one or you don't.

#1416 73 days ago

Sounds like somebody needs to "get with the program".

Quoted from statsdoc:

How am I supposed to simply maintain the freakin’ pin if I am supposed to not touch these posts?

We are entering a new era of "maintenance free" pinball machines and JJP is leading the way.

#1435 73 days ago
Quoted from WackyBrakke:

I’m done with NIB.

I'm still waiting for your next "gonna sell them all" or "what should I buy to compliment the rest" thread.

We asked for Jack and that’s exactly what we got.

I think I've read enough pinside for the day so now I am going out to the garage to hang out with Jack.

Cheers!

patch it up with superglue

Quoted from drfrightner:

I just saw on the news that North Korea's leader is now making threats against JJP, and will test fire some rockets as a warning.

Trump's taking him a Spooky game, so not to worry...

#1535 72 days ago
Quoted from drfrightner:

LOL. Everything in North Korea is obsolete so those games should fit right in! LOL
I'm joking I'm joking. No I'm not, ahhh I guess I am. Who knows. LOL

Yeah, they sit around and watch yellow brick road and willy wonka every night.

#1537 72 days ago

who's this richie wrench anyway?

#1539 72 days ago
Quoted from gjm:

Spooky to Stern: I will tell/show you how to make a playfield the right way if you sign back over the "GODZILLA" rights you back doored me on from TOHO.

You really think Stern wants to spend that kind of money? Or give away their prized license?

#1560 72 days ago

I'm glad to see Jack's speech has put everybody's mind at ease on this matter.

#1575 72 days ago
Quoted from MrBally:

Why didn't buyers offer all-around good-guy Jack an extra grand or two per machine to help him out?

Perhaps because some of those that paid more later got their games first?

#1578 72 days ago

I kinda miss Williams and Bally myself. When they made really creative and fun games.

#1703 71 days ago

So now we not only have to worry about chipping and pooling, but these things burning our houses down. Great hobby!

Quoted from DerGoetz:

Check out the POTC playfield thread.
We have an LE owner there with an monster size chip gone. Jack himself supposedly denied him, case closed.

That kind of service is what will make the doors closed.

#1892 67 days ago
Quoted from Multiballmaniac1:

Jack ain’t gonna do jack sh$t.

T - shirt for the upcoming show.

#1904 67 days ago
Quoted from MrBally:

One tire store chain encourages you to return tires that you are not satisfied with....

For me, that would also be the correct way to return a pinball machine with a halfass piece of shit playfield.

#1908 67 days ago

Not sure how relevant this is, but remember when Chrysler could have gone under because they were making super crappy cars?

Then all it took was the right spokesman to bail them out selling even crappier cars.

#1910 67 days ago
Quoted from MrBally:

"If you can find a better car, buy it".
A lot of people took Lido up on his offer.

And more than a lot of people listened to him like he was selling a brand new flavor of Kool-Aid.

#1931 66 days ago
Quoted from Mike_J:

He’s a buffoon, but everyone continues to respond to him.

Sure, but he's making us brand new Medieval Madnesses.

#1953 66 days ago
Quoted from delt31:

That is an incredible salesman. What a video. God bless the 80s.

I'm sure the turbo K car had it's fans and plenty of soccer moms drove those vans, but looking back he was quite a salesman considering the actual product he was peddling.

Edit- Had. lol. I've got one customer that still has four or five turbo K cars. lol

#1955 66 days ago

Chrysler helped revolutionize the industry. Saved everybody 5 MPG.

#2200 18 days ago
Quoted from Dr-pin:

So has anybody bought this game manufacturer this last month?

As far as I know they are still owned and run by the same people.

#2212 13 days ago
Quoted from bigd1979:

If your buying high priced toys like we all are then your not poor by any means. 1 billion people all over the world are starving and were buying 5-10k nib pins....trust me we all cld be much worse off.
Also many of the pooling games are by no means littlery falling apart.

My neighbor had a pool put in. Less than a year later the decking started to crack.

The company that did it came out, busted it all out and redid it. Apparently the rebar wasn't set right. They owned up to it and took responsibility. No charge.
