speech costs money. Multiball costs money. They didn't want to spend money.
The success of Space Shuttle reintroduced these elements to pinball.

Not even close. I count ~30 before Space Station, (technically starting with Xenon): http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?ft=multiball&sortby=name&searchtype=advanced and that's just solid state
Because speech and multiball isn't required when you have a great package already! This is really a great game...buh-leeve me.
