Quoted from lordloss:

lloyd was always saying JJP should sell pre configured flash drives. Charge $30 for em, have them loaded with software. Throw a JJP symbol on there and you have a pin collectible as well. Win Win
This would help a lot of folks out.

Not officially JJP, and no JJP logo, but ready to use WOZ USB update sticks are available here...

Is RedLaser available for Android? I use it on iPhone and it worked great with the QR code on WoZ.

I don't mind the QR code, social media page in the new update. Will be great when we put it back on location. Easy to use, and lets people brag about their scores. Would be nice to be able to include the location in the Tweet however.

Quoted from pinballinreno:

I tried to capture the QR code from my score on my phone but it wouldn't do it.
Is there a good QR scanner for android that is free that is recommended?

I spent the better part of today trying to download to my computer. I kept getting 'Failure' messages that indicated the problem was from 'the source'. I managed to get two complete downloads but when I put the stick in my pin it said it was incomplete and would not load it.

I'll just keep trying.

#206 8 years ago

When you erase your USB flash drive make sure you empty the trash afterwards. I was having issue until I did that.

#207 8 years ago

Correction. What my computer is saying is: "Failed - Network error". Maybe my router is dropping out at times. I'm going to switch from Chrome to Firefox and see if that helps.

I did empty my trash can first. Thanks though for offering the tip.

#208 8 years ago

Well, I did several download attempts using Firefox and after about halfway through the download I got messages that would say "Failed - Source error". It's getting late. Will try again tomorrow.

#209 8 years ago

I've had problems with Chrome. Internet Explorer worked okay.

Quoted from CUJO:

Question:
Being a PC tech, and since the full install is a ISO file, can I write it to a DVD-R, then plug in a external DVD RW Drive into the USB port on WOZLE and upgrade that way too? Curious minds wish to know..lol

Whatever you do, do NOT boot such a DVD. If will without any warning, proceed to overwrite your MBR and primary boot partition on drive C:

Quoted from DaveH:

In the game the sound levels are shifted around by events all the time. Some things get louder, some softer. This is so the ending mix sounds how it should. An event killing something like the start sounds and animations of ECMB by hitting both flippers were not handled properly. That is the fix for that issue.
This entire post is just my guess at the translation though. Keithease and Tedonian are not my primary languages.

"Ducking" is an audio engineering term. Assuming that what is meant, when you "duck" audio you apply compression to background audio that is triggered by the amplitude of another audio track. In layman's terms, the volume of a background audio track is temporarily reduced in proportion to the piece of another audio track that is playing at the same time. This is a common musical technique to make music sound more clear.

FINALLY! After working all weekend on trying to get a clean download, I got it this morning on the first try! I would say there was a heavy demand on the JJP servers over the weekend while everyone was at home. It was a cinch this morning. With what little I know about computers, I'd say the servers were freed up today and could finally get the 'signal' out to me.

Now, to go play!

First impressions after installing 5.0.5:

They messed up the coil settings. I'm not sure what problems other people were having, but after I updated, the ball wouldn't even kick out into the shooter lane. The coil was too weak. But then the VUK for the crystal ball was too strong and would shoot the ball way out of the ramp and SDTM. Very odd.

The developers have still not been able to fix the ECMB locks. On my game, if more than one ball is locked, it lets two balls out. The only way to make the game fair is to disable that and make the ECMB locks virtual.

I understand they may expect people to save/restore their game settings but the default settings on the game seem rather odd: no ball saver? Really? But extra balls at 30k, 50k, etc?

As expected, Keith refuses to disable the upper flippers when a ball isn't on the upper playfields, so the game adds exponentially more wear and tear to the upper flipper mechanisms than is necessary. I still think that's a really poor choice by the development team to not make that feature configurable.

I am frustrated that there appears to be additional game modes, that as other people have said, require extra money and parts to "unlock". You'd think after JJP got up to eight grand from their customers, they wouldn't nickle and dime them to add gameplay features. Home users don't need redemption equipment but they might like to play the timed game, but making it cost extra? Really? It seems to add insult to injury to make us LE people to bought in early on have to pay extra to have full game features.

That being said, I still think WOZ is one of the best games made. I do think they haven't "dialed it in" yet though.

Check for magnetization of the balls. This happened to mind and wreaked havoc on the ECMB lock.

Check for magnetization like stated above... but also you can adjust how long the ECMB lock stays open (default is 250 milliseconds). I had to put mine down to 230.

magnetization of balls? I haven't run into that before. Is this something that is more common in WOZ because of all the magnets?

I guess I should have figured they reset the settings for the ECMB lock too. Do you think the reference game they're using is set up more flat than other peoples' games?

You are the first to say the coil settings changed because they didn't from the previous version. And magnetization happens in any game with magnets. In tz and especially tom its frequent.

It can happen. The balls in my game were slightly magnetized so when the ECMB arm raised the ball to be released seemed to drag that second ball with it.

Saved all my settings before updating to latest code...all good.....definitely make sure balls aren't magnetized...made the mistake of putting silverjets in mine some time back....machine went crazy....

I don't get the continued complaint of all the flippers working.....play the hell out of my TSPP and it works the same...I like being able to smack a ball if it ends up there randomly (has happened on house side a couple times)....guess the route operators might have a point, but hard to believe it's that big of a deal.....

the extra features for the dongle don't concern me...I'll buy it if I ever get through all the modes someday and get bored (highly doubtful).

only thing I dont like is the huge Q code and twitter stuff ruining the look of a beautiful display.....hopefully it will be a feature that can be turned off down the road......

I saved my settings before updating to 5.05. Restored settings after the update and haven't noticed any issues.

#225 8 years ago

Regarding demagnetizing... I'm thinking I need to do it as well.

Saw this (but haven't tried it yet): http://www.pinballnews.com/learn/magnetism2/

and recalled Aurich recommending

Quoted from Aurich:

Pinball Life's ultra glossy balls. Shiny and look great, but don't get magnetized.

Those are the only balls I will use and what I replaced the balls from my WOZ with.

ditto......all my machines....btw, TZ is very bad for magnetizing balls and weird effects occurring afterwards, as well....

I tried updating my new WOZ75 but can't get the game to see the thumb drive. It's a Sandisk 32Gb drive. My PC sees it and I formatted it (FAT32) before loading the files. The files take up 3.78 Gb so I guess I have the full download on the thumb drive. I've reinstalled it 3 times and got the same result. I plug in the thumb drive, turn on the game and it boots up the same as if the thumb drive isn't there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Try a PNY thumb drive.

LTG : )

#230 8 years ago

If your using the usb plug by the coin door - make sure the other end is plugged into the motherboard - might be disconnected

#231 8 years ago

You also may want to try a 16 or 8 GB drive. I think I had trouble with a 32 GB as well.

#232 8 years ago

Turns out it was a bad USB cable. Perhaps the wire tie pinched it (it seems to be very tight). I unplugged the cable and plugged the thumb drive in it's place in the back of the PC and it updated without issue. I will replace the cable so I don't have to pull the playfield out every time there's an update.
