Great save, and great story. Yes, this is one heck of a great game.
Although it is a two-player machine, it is a true add-a-ball. The art package, backglass animation, features, and gameplay, make it one of the best ever. "Paradise" is also very good, but oddly, it seems to be more scarce than "PI".
I too have one in the restoration queue. It's the third one I've owned.
Picked it up at Pinfest last year. Although they allegedly produced only 235 copies of this game, I've come across three, and know several collectors who own one.
There have been a few offered on eBay over the years as well.
Gottlieb did produce an export version called "Hawaiian Isle", and who knows how many of them may still be kicking around.
The second one I owned started out with me as the lower box only.
A "car guy" friend of mine found it for sale in the back of a pickup at a car meet!
I thought it would be impossible to find a head for it, and was even entertaining the idea of possibly making a custom single player wedgehead for it. After about five and a half years, a lightbox for it turned up, and I was able to purchase it. That one now belongs to @mopar, who has never come across one on his own, despite finding some very obscure and esoteric titles.
Thanks to you for hunting down and saving this classic!

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

It was our pleasure, Beriah, and a fun day trip!
To add to your pics, the day started out with a 45 minute drive to Red Wing where we had breakfast at Bev's. Then a 1 1/2 drive down the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi.
The first stairway is in the newer portion of the house we took to get to the cellar of the original house. The other stairway is the old portion of the original farm house. This is how the game got out and yes, that's Peggy and her husband.
Thankfully, there were a couple farm hands to do all the work.
Eight hours later, we were back in town, celebrating the fact we didn't get murdered in WI!
My favorite part of our conversation:
Peggy: "So what nationality is your friend." She's probably never heard the name Beriah.
Me: "I think he's Hawaiian." I honestly didn't know. I mean, I've only hung out with the guy for a few hours at the Northwestern Pinball Show.
Peggy: "So, how are planning on getting the game to Hawaii?"
Honestly, Peggy, her husband and the farm hands couldn't have been nicer![quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

The adventure of the hunt is sometimes just as much fun as the game itself.

And all cleaned up. Thank you @wojchik-arabian[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Is that the lockdown bar that was on the game? As you may know, it's not the correct one. It's supposed to have the narrow one with the cast metal end caps.

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

It's hard to say why they did what they did to this game, but I don't doubt it's HUO. Yeah, yeah. I know.
In visiting with Peggy, she told us her and her husband moved to the dairy farm in 1964 and bought the game a year later. I took pics of the inside for Beriah but have since deleted them. Other then tarnish on the lamp sockets, it was really, really clean!

It must have been changed sometime much later since this type of bar did not exist in 1965.
