yep, as dothedoo pointed out the best way to take care of this (and not necessarily the easiest way) is to remove everything from the back board so that you can sand it (getting rid of all of that corrosion) and then re-paint it. you can tumble the sockets, but for the price and piece of mind, it's probably easier to just purchase new ones.

remember to take plenty of photos prior to disassembling everything. video with audio commentary can be extremely helpful when you find out that even in the hundreds of photos that you took, you didn't capture what you needed
