Fun thread to post pics and info about pinball machines that have wintertime outdoor fun activities and sports, and tie it in with the XXII Olympic Winter Games being held in Sochi, Russia.

Feel free to help link pins to this thread that have themes such as skiing, ice hockey, ice skating, and other outdoor fun activities with a wintertime setting, (but not Summer Olympics).

Please post pics of some of your machines that fit this theme, and share any interesting stories and info.

If anything exciting happens during these Winter Olympics, feel free to mention it.
You know there will be some athletes making some spectacular thrills and spills!

Cheers!

A few facts pertaining to this 2014 Winter Olympics:

Six thousand athletes from 85 countries will be competing in 15 different sports for the Olympics, including 89 separate events.

First ever Russian Winter Games.
1st Olympics in Russia since the breakup of the USSR in 1991.
The USSR was the host nation for the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow.

Sochi 2014 has three mascots — the polar bear, the hare, and the leopard.

Found that there are several more pinball machines from the 50's and 60's that have wintertime fun/sports theme. Seems to have been a popular theme back in the day.

I'll be away from the computer much of today for another fun wintertime activity.
That being the 1st IFPA State Pinball Championships.
Heading to New Orleans area for the LA State Tournament.
Not quite as much pageantry as the opening ceremonies for the 2014 Winter Olympics, but I know we will have a fun time competing, visiting, eating, and partying!

Have a great weekend Pinsiders, and stay warm out there this Winter.

Quoted from ktrain315:

Don't forget Hotdoggin'

Hotdoggin' was one of the tournament machines earlier tonight for the IFPA Louisiana State Pinball Championship.

USA's Sage Kotsenburg was hotdoggin it out on the slopes and won an Olympic gold medal in men's slopestyle.
Norway's Sandbech took silver, and Canada's McMorris grabbed the bronze medal.

Amazing jumps with flips, spins, and board grabs!

Of the machines listed above in the games linked to topic, the rarest one appears to be:

Red White Blue, by Williams, 1956
http://www.ipdb.org/search.pl?name=red+white+blue&mfgid=352&yr=1956&searchtype=advanced

In Mr Pinball, Pinball List & Price Guide, it lists the qty as "rare", and the value as "$$$".
Anyone have a Red White Blue woodrail pin?

The production number on Bristol Hills is only 110, but it's just the add-a-ball version of Snow Derby and 4-player Snow Queen.

Probably the most famous ski jump ever is "The Agony of Defeat" crash from March, 1970.

Vinko Bogataj became a bit of a celebrity in USA due to ABC repeatedly showing it for years in the 70's as part of the highlights clips for ABC Wide World of Sports.

Looks like we are long overdue for a winter themed pin. Something snowboarding or snowmobiling related... Bunch of ramps and jumps... Like no fear...

On ipdb website, I also found a CCM 1949 Super Hockey, but it doesn't show up on Pinside Archive Database.

Men's Downhill and Women's Downhill snow skiing events are my favorite Winter Olympic events.

Ice skating events -- not so much.
Never felt drawn to curling either.

Any of you Pinsiders watching some of the Winter Olympics?

Any of you have any wintertime sports/activities theme pinball machines in your collection?
If so, throw up a pic or two here.

4.5 million people here in the Netherlands (out of a population of 16.5 million) watch the speed skating events. All 10 of our medals are from speed skating events.

Very impressive results for Netherlands. ^^^^^^^
I watched some speed skating on tv tonight and last night.

Only Canada and Norway have won as many medals thus far this Winter Olympics.
Norway excels more in skiing type events.
Athletes for Canada are getting medals in a variety of events (freestyle skiing, skating, & snowboarding).

USA, Russian Fed., and Germany also doing great in the medals count thus far.

Two of my students went to Sochi for Pairs. Not contenders, but a well deserved spot.

On the other hand, being a long time very avid snowboarder, I'm glad to see that slope style was added to the games. It's only going to get crazier from here. Halfpipe was a bore.

Lookin forward to the hockey finals - Day drinking here we come!

Pinsider Haiderdj in Tucson, AZ has an Ice Fever (Gottlieb 1985) pinball machine for sale.

http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/fs-ice-fever-950

I've never seen one up close, nor played one.
Per ipdb website, there was 1585 of these pins produced.

Looks like they made the 1 player EM that you have, and 4 player EM and SS versions. Inder was a company in Spain that made machines from the 70's to the early 90's.
Looks like this guy owns an INDER, try messaging him.

Murphdom,

I'd say it is a 1969 Williams Set Up, which is the add-a-ball version of Seven Up.
The aab version had a lower production number.
