days are getting shorter and the temps are dropping, its about that time of year. i would be interested in seeing some winter projects.

I plan to redo my BK2K before spring. I need to repair or remove the Mylar, Replace all the plastics, rebuild the bumpers, upgrade the flippers and add some lighting mods. I'm just trying to get at least 1 other pin working before I take it down, I'll start a thread in this section when I start.
Batman Forever needs an lcd conversion, a shop job, and to diagnose what is a pop bumper on. (Not the transistor, coil, or diodes so something upstream.)
JP is a total project. Got it to boot saturday. Fixed some of the GI issues. Right now it needs:
GI is blowing Fuse F3 on PPB
J8 and j7 have to be unplugged due to coils locking on.
T-Rex L/R and UP Down.
No Flashers
Wiring Hacks for GI need to be fixed.
Lamp Matrix has one column where a light stays on.
RUST, so much rust.
New Translite
Cabinet needs to be redecaled, but that will be a summer project.
Full tear down shop job
I have some cool projects lines up if the parts ever come in:
1. Bride of Pinbot 2.0
2. BoP Playfield swap
3. High Speed playfield swap (Greatwichjohn printed playfield)
4. Earthshaker backbox rebuild (shattered, who knows what happened)
5. Space Shuttle cabinet replacement
Not sure what order these will be done in. It is likely that 4 and 5 will get done. I'd prefer to do 1 and 2 right away but the parts are long backordered.
Wow, so I guess, that's quite a bit I have in my queue. Didn't quite realize it until I actually wrote it all out.
For me there is no such thing as a "winter project". There's enough projects here to keep me going all year around and I still cant get to 90% of them.

It's just below 80 where I'm at.

i hear you! there really is no "off season" so to speak how many irons in the fire do you tend to run at a time?
Bringing a Time Warp back to life.
I replaced the swollen MDF on the back/bottom of the body. Sanded the cab down and re stenciled this fall. Winter project is the playfield, the art is great, no broken plastics but every piece underneath is rusted or missing....gonna be fun.
Pic is still missing the white, it came out looking good but it's not gonna win first prize at the country fair.

This was the first weekend in a long time where my calendar was clear, so I was able to hit the paint hard and heavy. I got all the major areas completed - now it's just smaller places here and there to address, and then waterslide decals for the inserts. Unfortunately, onto the back burner it goes as my crazy work schedule picks up all over again.
Quoted from Noobee:Looks great! How the heck did you do all that in a weekend???
The 'before' pics were taken earlier- I had started blocking out base colors about a week ago. All the detail work was done this weekend though.
No work, no errands, no family events- just me, some Pink Floyd, and a 000 brush. You can accomplish quite a bit if you just keep at it inch by inch.
I just finished up refreshing a Bad Cats. Fun project but now I'm in need of a new one.
Lots of pics here:

I know where two bad cats are sitting in about the same state. I am planning on making a play for them this spring as the owner really doesn't sell too many items. Your thread has kept me motivated in doing so. Good work and congrats on finishing
Great to hear! Hopefully he'll let one go to you. Sad to see something sit and not getting used or enjoyed (not that this is the case; I don't know). Good luck!
Quoted from Noobee:Just finished my winter project. Too bad winter isn't finished yet.

Wow, did you do the touch-ups near the pops yourself? If so, great work!

Yes, This was a total repaint of the entire playfield, by hand with brushes, then several brushed on layers of clearcoat. From what I started with, I am actually pretty excited. But, alas, I need to wait until warmer weather to finish the rest of the project...
When I drove to work this morning it was -27 degrees. Thats actual temperature, not wind chill!

Ah, me too - need some warmer weather to do cabinet restoration work outside on Double Action. She's fully playable, so you know you can't rush these things. Maybe I can scrounge up a few ancient parts from the bins under the tables at the Ohio Show.
336992-i.jpgYea this weather sucks for cabinet work. I have 3 still waiting for it to go above 45 deg at least. Currently -10F
Quoted from schudel5:Must be the winter of FD/QD work. Just removed everything from the old playfied and soon will be swapping everything over.

So, after I spent half the winter bringing my Quick Draw playfield back to life, dare I ask what a new one costs?

$500. But only 40 or so were made.
Quoted from Noobee:Ah, so my time is worth just about 5 bucks an hour, awesome!
If we were putting a dollar value on time we would about all be upside down
Quoted from Noobee:Ah, so my time is worth just about 5 bucks an hour, awesome!
At 5 bucks, you're ahead of the game. Most of us are probably at fractions of a penny
Oh, I know. I was really being tongue in cheek. I had a lot of fun, and that is certainly the main thing!
Now if winter would just be done already.... What the hell am I still doing in Michigan anyway?
Quoted from jmountjoy111:If we were putting a dollar value on time we would about all be upside down
thats why we must keep playing them to get our monies worth
