Quoted from spandol:

They can’t get candyman. Mars and Co. who owns it won’t license it to be used in the machine.

I guess they like Zynga more than Jersey Jack Pinball. You’ll find Candy Man as one of the main themes in Zynga’s new Wonka’s World of Candy game for iOS and Android.

Probably like Zynga’s money better. I promise you enough cash would have solved the “no Sigourney Weaver” problem for Heighway.

At a certain point pinball companies can’t keep opening their wallets, not enough return from a niche market. Zynga prints money with their apps with the reach they have.

Understood fully. There is a big difference between X "won't license it" and Y "not wanting to pay."

#1404 4 years ago

Meh. IMO, it’s not a very good song anyway.

If you really are dying to enter the world of wonka... see images of the movie wrapped into a game... and have the music pounded into your head, just get this app.

You’ll get more than your fill as the game marches you through the plot... FOR FREE. Save your $10k

Quoted from screaminr:

The "internet " told me there weren't going to be any video clips of the actors in potc , I asked my distributor and he said don't believe everything you read on the internet , who was right ? I'm not saying this is the end of wonka , licensing affects everything they couldn't even use the dog and the monkey in Pirates because of their agents .

And the guy who made this deal is long fired from JJP!

Quoted from Crile1:

Need to check out the Black Knight forum and see if you guys are ripping that one apart.

I would not say ripping apart but with ten posts you have only one that is not negative in the BK thread

Oh hell...just do a sound alike cover. I didn't want to pay for The Doors Roadhouse, but found a cover that was just as good.

Oh shit, I was just repeating a so called fact I read on Pinside!
I assumed if I read it here it was the truth.Sorry

Eric said they wouldn’t license the song. That is not accurate.

Keith Johnson told me, “they wanted a shit-ton of money.”

So Candy Man could have been in the game, but it was cost prohibitive.

Cue the Kickstarter campaign

When I think of hard-rocking, pulse-pounding pinball music, I think "The Candy Man Can"!

Oh wait. I don't.

Sounds like the same group that wanted the Beatles pin to be filled with their slow late 60's ballads.

I love my Munsters LE great game
Sometimes less is more
Cabinet build is great wouldn’t trade it for anything hella fun
I don’t always want to read a rule book nor do I want something taking my picture
And I don’t need a jumbo screen
What the deal with the big monster screen?
Just makes me feel like why are playing pinball anyway why don’t we just go watch a movie or something

Cabinet build is great ? Are we talking about exterior bolts to metal tabs for upper metal cabinet? Or the two hasp on the lockdown bar ? Or the folding tin speaker panel with plastic nuts ? Or metal rails instead of maple wood rails
There’s a reason why it’s 200 lbs and a JJP is 300 lbs . My Munsters LE which is long gone now looked like a kiddie game
Next to my Pirates ! Fun games but dam
I can just imagine what’s next ?

There really isn't anything left.. maybe the legs can be thinner now that the weight is less?

#1417 4 years ago

I'm grabbing one, as they just make games that appeal to me. (Have pirates and hobbit currently)

Pirates is my favorite of all time personally, the one thing that gets me with Wonka is the sound effects sort of bombard you, it's like standing on the floor of a casino.

But man it's beautiful and looks like a great shooter.

#1418 4 years ago

No one has come out and said it, but we are all thinking it. Golden tickets are like Shaq Attack. There, I said it.

As an owner of both Stern and JJP games I have to agree there is a night and day difference between build quality. While still quite fun, the Stern machines feel cheaply made. Whereas the JJP games feel like tanks and are rock solid. However, I've found that ALL of them have really annoying things that constantly go wrong with them and I continuously try to convince myself that's part of the charm of pinball.

Quoted from drfrightner:

They used plastic ramps... well why aren' the plastic ramps the chocolate river with decals. The bottom is chocolate, and the sides are suckers, gumdrop tree, etc. and instead of that ridiculous metal building on the left, that could be the boat. So in other words you're in Wonka's factory and the ramps is the path around the factory (chocolate river). Totally missed that one.

This is a fantastic idea! You should create mods to replace the stock ramps with CHOCOLATE RIVER RAMPS!

Do we have any pictures of the LE and CE playfields?

#1426 4 years ago
Quoted from ktownhero:

LE playfield is same as the SE, with the exception of the wireforms being blue, and the Wonkavator mech in the back corner.

What about the CE? The features matrix says it has a sparkly playfield, red most secret machine and a topper -- I'm curious about those.

#1428 4 years ago

As far as I'm aware, JJP has not revealed any details about the CE yet other than what we've all seen on the flyer.

All I know is that I will pay BIG money for sparkles. I went broke in the 80s paying for the same shit. Glad it's back!

Sparkly paint is one thing, but it's also possible they are referring to more usage of the tiny LEDs
