I can understand people's frustrations with the situation that Stern has created and its important to remember Stern has created this issue. I don't fault the guy for trading his pin. Hell I would love to do the same thing. Actually turn a pin into an investment and trade it for a machine that I thought was unobtainable. I would love a BBB but I'll never be able to drop that cash on one.
I feel the same way many do. Many people want bottom dollar when they purchase and then when they sell they expect to make a pile of cash.
I never hear this much hate and venom for those that sell MM's, AFM and others at much inflated prices. Everyone just moves on and excepts that these are the new prices for these machines.
Its all about who you know. There is no level playing field when you are talking about something that is in short supply. If this person has a personal relationship with the Distro then I would expect they would get preferred treatment. I don't know any of the parties personally but I bet he buys machines from the distro in volume and pays a fair price each time. The Distro would be silly to bite the hand that feeds them over and over.
I know if I had someone who gave me business over and over, year after year; they would get first crack at machines and when push came to shove I would work to keep that person happy. They buy in volume and it sounds like here they buy some titles that haven't appreciated in value. So this time they got a title that looks like a winner, good for them. They win one and that's only if they can work a deal out. So far I don't believe he has struck a deal for his machine.
Again from what I'm reading this is an issue Stern has created on this title and its an issue the collective has created because they know we speak with our wallets. You think this issue goes away with ST 2013? It will if they make 1000-2000 LE's and then its no longer an LE. People will know they can wait to play it first before pulling the trigger.
I'm in for a MMOP. If my guy calls tomorrow and says sorry there are some issues and I can't deliver I will be bummed but what can you do. Will I reconsider using that person in the future to avoid another issue? Maybe.
In the end its only pinball and its not like your money is taken and you don't get it back. You will receive a full refund.
Try the stock market. Yesterday your investment was worth $8K and today its worth $6K. Your broker won't give you the difference back.
I'm just glad the premium exists so everyone has a chance to purchase a machine with all the features. Besides some artwork..... and again that is really all we are talking about is an artwork package that is the difference between the two.
just my 2 cents in a sea of nickels and dimes
