I’m working on this new to me Upper Deck. I cannot get the grand slam feature to work at all. Can anyone give any ideas? It’s supposed to keep track of the grand slams. Depending on the settings, if you hit at least 3 grand slams it should award a credit or an extra inning. I manually hit 3 grand slams. The grand slam counter in the top middle of the backglass does not move at all. It moves freely by hand by pushing in the coil plunger. I’ve looked for broken wires, and switch contacts etc. I cannot find anything. Here’s some info from the manual and some schematics.

I should add that if I manually move the grand slam dial to a number other than zero, the game will not start. That dial will not reset to zero and the score motor will just continuously run.

Anyone? Bueller? I can upload the entire owners manual if needed.

Check the normally closed switch on the load relay with the w-o and g-o wires. This switch is common to both the advance and resetting of the grand slam drum unit. Once the grand slam relay pulls in, it will keep the score motor running until the drum unit resets.

Thanks. I’ll report back.

If checking the load relay switch doesn’t result in any love, connect a alligator jumper with one end to a yellow wire connection and the other end to either of the load relay switch blades to check wiring and power the grand slam drum unit coil.

Thank you guys. I’m at work today but I will report back as soon as I can.

pinballdaveh you called it. Broken wire on the load relay on that switch you mentioned. Thank you.

However, now I have another problem. Sometimes the runners don’t pop up. They just spin underneath. It was doing this yesterday intermittently before this grand slam fix tonight.

The other thing that’s happening is sometimes on a triple the running man will circle the bases like a home run.

To put runners on bases, the load solenoid must pull in. Check out these 2 switches. On the load relay a make/break switch with wires, br-g y-blu & r-b. On the 3rd out relay a normally closed switch with wires, r-b & w-blu.

Thanks you. I just cleaned those switches. They look like they’re adjusted ok. Played a couple games. It seems ok but I’ll try it some more tomorrow. The issue with the triple sometimes being like a home run without the lights and sound effects may be the ball hitting the triple but glancing off the home run next to it. I changed the setting to conservative to see if that makes a difference. It supposed to.

Other issues popping up. Played a full game but the game over didn’t light up. Next game just stopped in the 2nd inning.

It just stopped in after the 3rd out in the top of the 1st. Everything is still lit but it won’t pitch or do anything.
