Quoted from Soulrider911:

Leds are polarity specific?! This is news to me. Then how come you can plug an led in either way and it lights? Some leds are polarity specific. But the lights from comet etc I believe are not? Keep me honest here.

All LEDs are polarity specific when installed in inserts run by the lamp matrix, including Comet. This is a non-issue when using bayonet style lamps (only one way to install them) but can cause problems when using 555 style lamps (can be installed in two different orientations).

Also a non-issue when installed in the GI which is powered by AC.

How can you tell what side is pos and what side is neg... and on the boards there does not appear to be any indications? thanks for the help

Wonder if just getting an LED OCD will resolve this.

#55 6 years ago

Sorry, but no, it won't. LED OCD requires a game's lamp matrix to be working. It does not replace it.

You really can't tell by looking at them. You install them and if they don't light, you switch them around.

Well heard back from Chris, and sounds like everyone on this thread was right in helping me nail down a lamp matrix. Chris said two of the transistors on the lamp matrix failed, which quite unusual for the lamp matrix transistors to fail, let alone two. Additionally, The 12V filter cap next to the regulator had leaked an almost corroded through the traces, he fixed that as well, and beefed up the board overall.

I also sent him my MPU board which had alkaline damage and its like new again he said! So brand new boards should be back this week and we will be Terminating in no time!
