Looking for some help with a Williams System 7, since I'm not very familiar with this boardset. Here's the situation:

* Power game on.
* Player 1 display shows "2502 1", credit display shows "04 00".
* No further activity.
* Press the diagnostic button, game boots fine and plays great.

Of course, I'd strongly prefer to not have to press the button every time I turn the game on. Is this likely an issue with the reset circuit, or perhaps something far more trivial (e.g. memory contents corrupt, battery issue, coin door lockout, etc.)

Currently no batteries in the game- putting some in made no difference with these symtoms. About to start chasing through the boot/reset circuit, but just wanted to "ask the audience" in case this is something trivial.
