Any thoughts on replacing the 40-pin connector that bridges a System 6 driver and MPU with jumper wires to eliminate the connector problems?

Or at least narrowing down which female pins are the culprits and only repinning those on the connector.

That's the way it used to be fixed 'back in the day'.

Or should I say 'hack in the day'.

I've seen it done, but nobody will come behind you and attempt repairs. (At least I wouldn't, nor would I buy it unless it was a heck of a deal.) You have to redo the board mounting for the MPU and driver, then decide on which connectors you are going to use.

    Never do that.

If somebody brought me a board like that to repair, I would refuse to work on it. That's a hack (and a very bad one).

Always replace the driver board 40 pin socket, period.
I think you can clean the CPU pins, I used my socket cleaning eraser.
I found cracked socket connections on a driver board that 'looked' really clean.
