Sys 11c can only be used in system 11c games. All the sound circuitry is absent from them.

There's a lot missing. I've looked at it before - I don't think it'd be *impossible*, or even all that expensive - but it would be a LOT of work, and for an inexperienced tech to troubleshoot the problems that could come up from installing all those parts.... I'd just send your board out and get it repaired.

Yes, you could retrofit the parts to make it an 11A, but it would be a PITA, as JWJ notes. You'd have to source a few parts but they are all still available. You wouldn't need the pricey 65536 CVSD.

Edit: or maybe you would. The WMS System 11 sound source map is anything but clear.

Yes you would need the 55536 CVSD. Speech is generated on the CPU board on all of the system 11, 11A, and 11B pins.

Pinbot normally uses 2 cvsd chips, but I haverun into one that did not have one on thecpu board and it still had all normal speech. This might be the reason for the alternate u22 Rom software and extra roms for the sound board
