Hi All,

I'm new to this site and new to DIY EM repair. We have been playing this pin for several years now and recently are starting to encounter a few issues.

#1. The ball indicator light "4" will not light up. I did change the bulb, still nothing. I then replaced the light socket, still nothing. All other ball indicator lights do work as they should (1,2,3 & 5).

#2. The "1 Player" and "2 Player" indicator lights do not light up. I did change the bulbs, still nothing. I did not replace the light sockets since that procedure did not resolve issue #1.

#3. The "Player 1 Up" and the "Player 2 Up" lights do no light up. Again, I changed the bulbs, still nothing, I did not replace the light sockets since that procedure did not resolve issue #1.

Thank you in advance for any thoughts/ideas.

Steve

thanks Jeff,

I have the schematic, I am trying to follow that.

I did clean the contacts/fingers on the Ball Count unit.

I did not do anything with the Player Unit, I'll take a look for it.

And I have been on the pinrepair site reading.

I'll keep plugging away at this.

Thanks

Hi Jeff,

3 pics of the schematic. I did change the bulb again, still not working.

Thanks
Steve

Thanks ccotenj,

I think we might be on to something. I gently cleaned the contacts on the Game Over Relay using 400 wet-dry paper. I now have Player 1 up light working and also have the Number of Players light working... BUT the game will not start (reset when pressing the game button).

thanks

Thanks - No. I don't have that tool. Can anything else be substituted at this moment

Thanks Everyone,

Yes, Beer is needed... I even brew my own so there should be no excuses...

Yes, I have cleaned and waxed the play field already, I have that stuff.
I just got done with a flipper rebuild a few weeks ago.
I do have a new ball in my tool box.
I do have many new bulbs.
I have replaced the rubbers about 2 years ago

I'll buy the adjustment tool and flexstone.

I'll update my profile with some info. I live in Whitehall, PA 18052, about an hour north of Philadelphia.

Thanks again, and when I get my tool, I'll follow-up on the progress.

thanks
Steve

Question... back in the day when you had to adjusts points in your car using a "feeler gauge"... can that also be used to set the switches if so what is the gap setting. I read the gap being 1/16th". That correct?

Ok, this is what I got.. my adjusting tool and flexstone. I am learning to keep my head down when in the cabinet after banging my head on the swing target mounting bracket. Attached is a pic of the Game Over relay at startup. Also attached are pics of the relay(s) diagrams. Thought I'd send this over before making any adjustments incase someone saw something before I dig in.

the pic of the Game Over relay is missing the last switch in the photo... but it is "closed".

UPDATE - Great Progress, I think..... I adjusted the switches on the Game Over relay (after about 5 times) lights are working (1 UP/2 UP, 1 or 2 Can Play, and the Ball 4 indicator). I played a single game then a multi player game and all lights are working (2 pics attached). Now a new issue... after I play ball 5, the game is "Game Over" light comes on which is correct, but it kicks out another ball and the playfield is still live/active. Before I go and start adjusting switches again, any thought on what switch or relay to check/re-check.

Update #2 - I got this issue resolved. I needed to re-adjust the "F" on the Game Over relay.

"after I play ball 5, the game is "Game Over" light comes on which is correct, but it kicks out another ball and the playfield is still live/active."

Now when I have selected "2 Can Play", the first player plays fine, it then tries to switch to the 2nd UP and it does for a split secord and goes back the 1st UP player and plays. So I'm thinking it's some more fine adjustment to the Game Over relay.

Up and Running... What are these odds... I found a retired EM pinball repair man just 2 miles from home.He came over, we walked thru what I did and explained the schematic, showed and explained the "wipe" motion on the switch. What it was, the 2nd coin relay was always set at "make". Adjusted that and we were in business. The grandkids played the game for about an hour last night and we played today for about an hour and all is working. thanks to everyone you got me in the right direction and it's been a great learning experience plus I was able to buy some more tools. There is a local show coming up in May in my area, gonna attend that and see what that is all about.

Thanks again to ALL!
Steve
