Just got this machine and it played great for a couple hours then blew fuse and went dark.

The fuse that blows is the 2nd of 4 from the bottom.

Lock relay coil is toasty but I think this is common. (when I actuate lock relay coil i have playfield lights.)

The 2 stand alone relays just above the motor are buzzing and sticky.

I don't blow a fuse with the bottom biggest jones plug behind back glass pulled out.

It looks like the top right pin on that jones plug is the one that blows fuse. Its a green wire and goes to 2 standalone relays in question I think.

All other relays appear to be functioning properly.

The power cord that was on it was shot and replaced by me in hopes of a fix

I have a schematic and a manual but a having a tough time correlating them and the machine as nothing is marked and I am but a mere low level apprentice at best with these and its my first williams.

Is it best to replace a coil or disassemble everything for cleaning?

Any other help would be greatly appriciated.

Start by looking in the backbox for any burned up coils or solenoids. Manually advance all the score reels and stepper units in the backbox to make sure they rotate smoothly. If you have a multi-meter, you can test any suspicious coils by checking the ohms level. A good coil will have 2.0 ohms or higher...

    Update.

The .25 and .10 coils were the ones above motor that were sticking. I cycled everything behind the back glass and got it to load credits and start.

    Points coils all working freely.

Going to ohm everything in morning.

Still has no kick out coil to feed plunger and no flippers. It goes thru the start up sequence and sometimes the motor keeps running.

The .10 and .25 coils are activated through the coin switches on the coin door. Check to make sure one of those is not stuck in the down position.....This could make the coil remain pulled and then blow the fuse.

If not it, try to visually inspect all the switches on the playfield to see that none are stuck. Check all you stepper units inside the cabinet to see that they are working correctly, mainly the coin unit.
