Hey guys I'm relatively new to Pinside and being my first post, please forgive me if I make any mistakes. I recently picked up a Star Pool several weeks ago fully working. I've put maybe 20 plays on the game since ownership and have had no problems. Two days ago during a game I noticed that my left slingshot bumper is functioning but is not chiming or adding points. After raising the playfield I did not see anything out of the ordinary. I've checked all of the solder spots and everything is intact without corrosion. The contacts on the playfield are evenly spaced as they should be and spark when the ball hits. Im new to pins and though i have the schematics, im still learning. I'm also trying to figure out how to upload pics. from my phone as well since it does make it easier for a possible solution. Like I said everything on this pin works as it should lights, bumpers, player selection etc. I could and would really appreciate any help or advice. Matt

Hi Matt
do you have the schematic?
you may have a problem with the score relays in the back box.
have someone help you by hitting play field switches one at a time, and watch the relays in the back box.
one of the switches may be dirty.
it could also be a bonus relay, or another switch in line with the sling.

Since Star Pool is a later EM, it has DC slingshots and pop bumpers (to make them stronger); however the rest of the game (including the score reels) runs on AC. So the contacts that go up through the playfield and are closed when a ball hits the rubber have DC going through them, and their only job is to make the kicker fire. There should be a second set of contacts below the playfield which are closed by the action of the slingshots firing, and those are the ones that let AC go through them to the 10 point relay which turns the reels. Make sure they're closing properly too.

Thank you both very much. I will check them in the a.m. as I'm at work and the reason for the late response. I will keep you both updated
