Hu

I think I was doing something very stupid. I wanted to change the number of balls and language of the pinball by pressing the the red and black buttons inside the door of the pinball. The power went off and when I reconnect the power and switched the pinball on only some light came on and nothing else.

What did I do, how do I remedy this?

that's a great question.
we need a lot more detail.

Blow a 7amp fuse on power supply for 5vdc.?

When I turn on the pinball, There is a solenoid that fire, two lights on the score of second player goes on for a second only, then there is some lights on the playfield and on the backboard that stays on, nothing else responds.

You are 100% right, one of the 7amp fuses on power supply was blown. I replaced it and immediately blown again when power on. What could cause this?

Picture added as to which fuse and a video showing what happens

Any idea which coil is locking on at startup?

Figure that out and test it’s associate transistor.

Most likely the bridge rectifier is bad. The one right to the left of the fuse blown. I would pull the power supply and put a meter on the bridge. One of the 4 diodes inside it are bad.

If that were the case wouldn’t more coils lock on?

Not in the few times I have had this happen. The 5vdc being down the game is stuck and and nothing works , kinda like the ending scene of the T-1000 in Terminator Judgement Day.

Is testing the rectifiers pretty much just testing there diodes?

Yes, there are 4 diodes in each bridge rectifier.

And when removing the bridge , try to snip the lugs first then heat each remaining leg for easier removal.

Is the square metal box just a cover for the diodes?

#14 9 months ago

Essentially yes it is. Diodes are installed in the case and covered in a epoxy? type material.

#15 9 months ago

So does the case just unscrew to reveal the diodes?

#16 9 months ago

No, you need to remove the grey metal rectifier and install a new one. A part that is maybe 5 dollars.

Hi

I have checked under the playfield for any obvious faults and saw tha the tp flippers switch on the oil was loose. I fitted it again, replaced the fuse and no nothing is happening when I switch the pinball on?

Any ideas as what I did wrong now?

You need to remove the power supply from the back box and take a meter and check that bridge rectifier.
