I picked up a really nice Indy yesterday. A friend and I played a dozen or so games and it worked perfectly. I go to turn it on today and I am getting an error showing switch #41 (Left Ramp Optos) is stuck open. In the test, it does not register anything. I'm still trying to learn how to work on these, and this is the first williams game I've owned that uses optos, and I'm still trying to figure out where the control board is for this switch

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

edit: i see that the photo emitters connect to J2 on the 10 switch opto pcb...i'm guessing i should pull that and reflow solder to start...any other things i should do when i pull it???

Yes, the wires are connected...reflowing the headers did nothing as well. Anybody have suggestions? I seriously hope I don’t have to get at the opto transmitter/receiver, they are buried

Thanks for the advice. I'm learning a lot as i go (including how fun it is to remove the path of adventure playfield!). I'm getting a constant 12v on the opto receiver, which according to the manual means it is not receiving the infrared beam. Anyway, it appears my transmitter has failed, I was able to verify the receiver is working by using a small led flashlight with which I was able to "close" the switch while in the test. Ordered a new one, fingers crossed I'll still be able to get it soon!!!
