I was replacing my power box and it looks like the thermistor broke I was trying to look it up online
And it seems like they have two different ones in the box.mine only has one going from the EM I filter to the on off switch it says Nts 2.5 ohms I see in a lot of photos that they have another one that jumps the EMI filter to itself (jumper)mine does not have that so two questions do I need The jumper one on the EMI? (thermistor Varistor)Second question the one I have is it a thermistor or a Veristor (NTS 2.5 ohms)? One more question does anybody know the name of the 2 plastic round clips that hold And crimp the wires to the power box.
Thanks for the help

No offense intended, but the tone of your post leads me to question whether or not you have any business working inside the power box?

There are no transistors inside the power box. There's a line filter. There's a varistor. There's a thermistor.

It's pretty basic to figure out, looking at a schematic.

It's not a question of standards. It's a question of safety.

I'm glad to help anyone - but I regularly come across people sticking their hands where they don't belong, messing around with something that could kill them if they aren't careful.

I'd feel pretty bad if I helped someone electrocute themselves!

Does this help?

I can't help you with power boxes because I'm a certified idiot. But John is definitely not. Best I can tell, the guy's one of the friggin' geniuses here on Pinside, and one of the good guys to boot. When he says "no offense intended," he means just that, but wonders why somebody would play around in their power box without knowing the answers to (what I'm sure he feels are) basic questions you asked.

He's one of the few people I would trust, and the reason why--when I have board work done or need advice--he's one of the guys I go to.

So, I'm not trying to be a jerk here...but don't take offense at all when somebody asks that question. As Dirty Harry said, "Every man's got to know his limitations."

Thanks, it's the thermistor. but do all have Varistor mine doesn't have one?

#12 9 years ago

I've found a mixture depending on the era and game. Some have both, some have one or the other.

Your IJ likely only has a thermistor, and that should be OK.
