Why would someone jump this? Maybe the top points weren't making so they just made the connection through the middle switch? The top wire was disconnected/broken off, but it sure lòks as if it were to connect to the top lug of this stack. The part that opens/closes this stack can be seen at far left of pic.
The solenoid was staying energized at times until a 1 point score would reset it.

Same on 10-90.....
But not on 100-900 reel....

Top loose wire goes to the switch that opens when solenoid to add a point activates. You can see it at the top of photo. The bottom wire (with the glob of solder) goes to the switch stack on the solenoid pictured. It's one of the 2 yellow wires.

Yellow is the common line on the power bus. Those are just daisy-chained together.

This is correct. Sloppy work on the machine, but it won't hurt it. (unless it falls off and locks the switch on...)

From the title I thought you were gonna say that is was that way on the PCB so it would match every time... new overkill free-play method discovered. Surprised nobody has done that one yet, so many people go out of their way to make free play harder than it needs to be.
