I went with the oil-based enamel (also Sherwin Williams) and got these. The red color was directly from a paint scan of the backbox. The paint scan couldn't compute a match for the yellow, so it was matched by hand (trial and error). No completed picture yet...hope to paint by end of month.

I purchased the Sherwin Williams colors that Yendor0 mentioned in post #7, though I bought latex paint instead of oil-based paint. Thickest paint ever; the stir stick will stand up in it indefinitely. With paint that thick, it wouldn't spray and once I thinned it to the point where it would spray it was too thin to adequately cover. As it happens, the yellow matched quite well but the red didn't.

Since I needed to repaint the head completely but didn't need to do anything on the main cabinet, I reverted to spray paint, which I find easier to work with. The Rustoleum Marigold mentioned by Bumpnthump05 in post #8 above is actually a pretty close match to the factory yellow. For the red, I had five different shades of Krylon red paint on hand, including the Red Pepper that he mentioned, so I got a piece of wood, tested all five and held the wood up to the cabinet to see what worked best. For my cabinet, Banner Red was a closer match than the Red Pepper.

Since the head and main cabinet are separate, the slight differences in color between the two aren't noticeable.

Bumping up this old thread. I'm about to start on a High Speed cabinet restore/repaint. What paint did you guys use for the black? I usually use rustoleum satin black (rolled with a small nap) and then spray cans for the paint.

also curious about the black color you guys used in restoration. TIA

For posterity, the Sherwin Williams oil-based paint codes provided by yendor0 unfortunately were too maroon for the paint on my cab. I’m painting just the backbox, as the cab is in OK shape, so matching is relatively important.

I ended up using Rustoleum “Colonial Red” gloss for the red parts and it was a near perfect match.

The color codes for the yellow yendor provided was 100% spot on. Thanks!
