I appear to have only one remaining issue with the fix-up of Williams's 1976 Grand Prix. Everything works well through the playing of the game, single-player or multi-player. In the simplest case, I run through all three balls, scoring a few points each time, and after the third ball, 00, shows up for the match, Game Over lights, and the scoring motor keeps running. Also, intermittently, I hear something that sounds like a relay buzz.

Studying the schematic, I can't see what is unique about the end of the game other than the match unit, but I don't see what runs the motor to get the match bonus.
Probably very similar to other Williams 1976 machines.

I don't have access to the machine, it is at my daughter's house in another state. Suggestions are much appreciated ( snextime LyonsRonnie1 ), but I won't have a chance to try things out for a little while. Thanks

Need to find out why the score motor is on. Look at all the relays on the schematic that control it, check which one is energized after the game ends. Then you can diagnose why it's staying energized; that's the real issue

Spoiler - I think you have a bonus issue. See below.

Per zac's advice, it looks like the following relays can turn on the motor. Which one is pulled/pulling in repeatedly at end of game?

25cent relay
Top eject relay
Reset relay
R bonus relay
Outhole relay
L bonus relay
Eject relay
Target relay
500 point relay
Coin relay
10 cent relay

Since you allegedly only get continuous motor at end of game, I'd guess it is going to be something involved with draining a ball. So my guess is L or R bonus relay or outhole relay. Not sure why it is only happening at end of game though.

BUT WAIT . . . Your bonus is messed up. Each ball it is giving extra bonus (more than the 5k you've earned). Can you manually increment and decrement each bonus stepper through their full travel positions one step at a time? Are both bonus units' zero position break switches opening at the right time?
If you fix your bonus issue, it may fix the end of game issue.

I'm not super familiar with Grand Prix's bonus operation. But I notice on ball 3 you drain with L arrow lit and have "earned" 0k of L bonus. I think each ball should start with 5k of L and R bonus earned. Ball 3 is the only time you drain with the L arrow lit while there is 0k of L bonus. I wonder if you would get continuous motor any time this is true - not just last ball. Nonetheless, it is time to fix your bonus issues.

jeffc You are exactly right! What an amazing sense of observation you have. I looked at this video many times and never noticed that on ball three, the initial 5.000 points were not set on the left bonus ladder. This is a huge help! I now exactly where to look now. I can't wait to get back to my daughter's house (pretty close to you) to check this out. Do your work in law enforcement or something? What a keen eye for details!

Thanks again, this really helps!
