My issue is a weird one (to me anyhow, haha). I can play a 1-player game fine with no issues. If I add multiple players, the game has trouble advancing to player 2. Sometimes I have to drain the ball more than once before it advances to player 2. The weird thing to me is that it NEVER hangs up advancing to player 3 or to player 4 or back to player 1. I'm not good at fixing EM's, so I'm trying to seek out some direction as to what piece of hardware I need to look at. Is the problem more than likely linked to the coin count relay or the player count relay, or neither?

I would check the Player Unit for good contact on #2.

The Player Unit is likely a stepper with two solenoids. One advances the stepper from player 1 to player 4 and the other resets it to player 1. With the power off push the reset solenoid plunger all the way in and let it go. Then do the same with the advance solenoid plunger. The wiper arms should step cleanly from one set of contacts to another every time without hesitating or landing between contacts. It could be that your Player Unit has a mechanical issue in stepping from the reset/player 1 position to the player 2 position. See if it can reliably do that without power.

Mine was doing the exact same thing - I cleaned all the contacts for the step up coil and it didn't improve. Turned out to be a loose connection on the jones plug in the head.

We were recently in the head working on a startup issue, perhaps something got hit? I'll check there too!
