I am in the process of changing out the system 4 board in my Flash for a P-roc programmable board. I am going to modify the rules for Flash, and would like to keep using the original sound board. As I understand it, there are 5 coils that serve as inputs to that board.

My question is about how the sound calls are actually made from the coil drivers to the sound board. Are the 5 inputs treated like a 5 bit word?

Yes.

MSB to LSB pins 7, 4, 5, 2, 3.

You may want to post additional questions over on RGP as there are guys there who have dug into this like you're doing that don't post here.
