Hey guys. I am going to pick this game up in the next couple months. I have only transported early SS games and took their heads off. I assume this can be transported by laying the head down. How do I do that exactly, and what is the best way to secure it once folded down? How do I secure the bell too?

Any other tips for transport?

Going to pick one up next weekend! I will post pics once I get her home.

Go te Fire! Home. It's in amazing shape. All original. Nothing wrong with it at all. Also came with original manuals and some replacement buildings.

One question: the one thing I noticed that might need repairing is the center ladder ramp. Someone put clear tape on the bottom side of it.

Should this have Mylar over it or what?

#171 8 years ago
Quoted from TheBrewhouse:

My fire does not have mylar on the part of the ladder that raises but does have it on the bottom half of the ladder where it says rescue shot. The mylar is one big piece that covers most of the playfield.

Okay. Here is a pic of what mine has on it. Doesn't look factory to me haha.

image.jpgimage.jpg

#172 8 years ago

Not sure if anything even needs to be there. Seems to work fine when I took it off. Not used to the rules yet and when it's supposed to raise, but I think that tape just needed to come off.

#174 8 years ago

Been playing my Fire! All day and this game is brutal! The rules are super easy, but it's so hard to accomplish the few goals it has. Kept me coming back for more and cursing the game at the same time. Haha. Glad I added this to the collection.

Okay guys here is my first go with the LEDs. Mainly put them in the GI and some of the inserts. The good thing about the two buildings in front of the middle building is that they have a cluster of lamp sockets that let me mix yellow orange and red to make a fire orange color that looks great! My main goal was to get this game brighter as it was hard to see stuff on the playfield before. This isn't a final product yet, but I'm liking it so far. Glass is on, so not the best picture, but you can get a sense.

image.jpgimage.jpg

#177 8 years ago
Quoted from toyotaboy:

Orange is great, makes the building look like it's on fire (if only a flickering yellow and orange bulb existed)
The red looks good, but I wonder if that doesn't make the flipper area too dark?

That's the crappy picture. It's actually orange and looks a lot different in person. I'll try and get some better pictures later.

#179 8 years ago

also, my ladder ramp assembly is pretty wobbly and it causes the ramp to not sit flush with the playfield in the down position (top right corner too low, and front left corner is sitting up). I made sure the assembly is screwed tightly to the playfield, and it is. Are these available to purchase anywhere? I am going to take the assembly off and try to fix it, but it might need to be replaced. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

#180 8 years ago

NM PBR has them for $22 plus shipping. FYI!

#181 8 years ago

Here are some better pics of the LED conversion and a video. The flashing you see in the video is from the camera. Cannot see the flicker in person.

Is there a way to get more than one million point jackpot during the same multiball?

6 months later
#200 8 years ago

I would take a close look at the horseshoe u turn at the top of the playfield. That is where you advance your bonus X. Make sure that is working properly. Mine wasn't registering every time when I first got the game. Took a lot of touchy adjustments to get it working right.

Quoted from BENETNATH:

- why are there that much bulbs under the central windows, as they never light up
- is it normal to have a high pitched buzz, reacting to playfield lights, especially during attract ?

Those lights in the windows of the playfield light up as you put fires out or as more fires start. I cannot remember. Basically if you have a very long ball, you'll see them all lit up.

My game buzzes and is very noticeable like yours in attract mode. Doesn't bother me.

Quoted from megalo17:

I could use some help adjusting the ramps. After I shopped it I can't get the right ramp to sit flush when it's lowered. It's 1 or 2 mm high, which sometimes kicks the ball back. Is there a trick to it?

I would be interested in this too as mine doesn't sit high enough when in the up position and causes the ball to sometime get stuck or jump off the ramp when I'm trying to lock a ball.

#276 8 years ago
Quoted from Lonzo:

The little pin that the ramp rides on that is attached to the coil bracket is adjustable. Loosen it up and move it down a bit. I adjust mine so that the ramp flap barely touches the playfield when down and that will give you maximum height when up as well.

How do you adjust it? Can you adjust it from above the playfield? Or is there something that needs adjusted from under the playfield?

#278 8 years ago
Quoted from Lonzo:

Loosen the nut on the opposite side of the ramp. It sits in a groove so you can adjust it and tighten it back down.

Thanks.

#279 8 years ago

Well I guess I'm completely stupid on adjusting this ramp because I don't see how I can adjust it by loosing that nut on the arm to the left of the ramp.

#281 8 years ago

Yep. That's the nut I loosened. Doesn't seem to let me change anything with where the arm travels though.

#282 8 years ago

I think the plate underneath the playfield that locks the ramp in the up position needs adjusted, but not sure on that either as my left ramp seems to be set up the exact same way as the right and is higher than the right ramp when in the up position.

#285 8 years ago

Cool. Yeah all those parts you highlight above at the items I'm looking at too. I'll fiddle around a bit more here and see if I can't fix the issue.

Quoted from izzy:

Recently acquired a decent Fire. Finally got it all shopped. Not quite sure how the bonus multiplier works. I get that you have a certain amount of time to get the higher bonus and it lowers the longer you take to put out the fires. Seems like I have done it once or twice. Is it that difficult? Is mine not working properly?
When I go through the horse shoe and I go through the lit side, is it supposed to register a bonus? It scores minimal points and a sound happens, but no bonus. Even when both of the horse shoe bonus lights are lit no bonus multiplier.
thx

If you go through the lit side of the horseshoe and it comes out the other side, it should advance your bonus multiplier, raise the post in between the flippers and raise the ladder. If it is not doing that, one of the horseshoe gates is not registering.

I had to adjust mine a lot before I could get the horseshoe shots to register correctly and consistently. Be careful when messing around with the gates, not to unhook the arm that goes from the gate to the switch under the playfield. If that in hooks, it is a royal pain in the ass to put it back.

Good luck!

#295 7 years ago
Quoted from izzy:

That was it. thanks. I know I adjusted those, but they are in such an awkward spot.

Seriously took me 2 hours to get those arms back on the gates when I was shopping mine out. They kept falling out, and like you said, very awkward spot.

#297 7 years ago
Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

Izzy, how did you adjust it? Was it the wire activating the switch? Mine are stiff, so I'm 50/50 on multiplier registering. Was starting to think that my wires are to short?

The arms are connected to switches underneath the playfield. Adjust the switches like you would a spinner switch. Just make the gap in the switch extra close, but don't let them touch. May take a couple tries to get it just right.

I am still having trouble with my right lifting ramp. When it's in the up position the ramp flap is just barely higher than the lock building area. So if I use the bracket there, the ramp flap is lower than the lock area and the ball jumps over the wall back into the playfield.

I have completely rebuilt the lifting mech and still no luck. For some reason, the arm of the lifting mech gets to the up position at an earlier point than the left ramp. I cannot see how in the world I can adjust this to change that, and the position of the mech is identical to the left ramp. Has anyone experienced this?

#308 7 years ago

The bottom of the arm that rests on the hook that is at the top of the mini solenoid, the bottom of the arm gets past the hook too soon, and the ramp is at about 3/4th height. Where as the left ramp doesn't get to the point until the plunger is fully down into the solenoid.

Hard to explain. So which part specifically are you suggesting I bend a bit? The arm seems too strong to bend it any which way. Honestly if I could move that hook back on top of the mini solenoid a couple MMs then I'd be in business.

#311 7 years ago

Tried the extra thread holes and those are too far back. I need like a mm or two closer than that.

It's really not a huge issue that I want to fabricate the parts, just thought there was something I was missing and how it can be possible that even with a completely different new assembly the same issue is there. It's like the holes in the playfield for the assembly were in the wrong place or something. So strange.

Thanks so much for the help. You definitely understand my issue too as all your suggestions would remedy the issue.

Lock plate has about 75-85 degree angle, bend to lesser?
You're welcome!

That might be doable. Thanks again.

Optimax amber and red and yellow mixed up in my buildings in the back. No OCD type board, but it looks fine IMO

this is a picture of the bridge supports going to left and right ball lock. Protects it if it isn't broken, or holds it together if it is broken.

Looks like he has em. They are awesome I concur.

1. The fire plug I got to work. It now pops up all the way and pops down all the way, but it seems it pops around a lot. Should it come up about every 30 seconds or so at random?

Every one I've seen does this. Use it as an opportunity to get a sneaky ball lock!

Hi All. I'm now at 3 months of a disabled fire plug because I can't find the plastic flat cam. Anyone have one or know of where I can find one? I tried the one place in Europe that says that they have them, but no joy.
Thanks!

I bet your game is playing brutally hard right now. Haha

#453 6 years ago
Quoted from Hogey:

Thanks for the responses. I will check the sleeve, but the bell sounds perfect every now and then but many times doesn't sound. I thought it must be a software issue, but that doesn't seem like it's it...will keep working at it.
Thanks.

The set screw is most likely your issue like someone else mentioned.

I haven't played my Fire for a little bit but I turned it on the other day and I'm not sure if my multi ball is working correct. I seem to remember every player having to lock each ball on their own to get multi ball but mine is letting othe players to steal locked balls.if there is 2 locked balls left from previous player all you need to do to get multi ball is shoot the orbit then the center ramp.can someone verify the proper operation?

Your game is working right. True lock stealing on this game is standard.

Anyone have an extra or know where I can get a ladder ramp decal? Mines pretty beat.

On mine I just bought a new ladder ramp. Haha

i havent found those in stock anywhere yet, where did you get it?

Marco like 4 years ago.

I had no ghosting issues with fire. I just used 5050 smds from comet for the inserts, then used optix Maximus for the GI in the buildings.

#530 5 years ago
Quoted from Fixer837:

Hmmm I'm having a difficult time figuring this out as in single lamp test some of the lamps work singly as they should but most have several lamps flashing about half bright and the one that should be flashing is bright have tried mapping the ones that are flashing with the lamp matrix but there is no pattern it's all random.....guess I'll recheck all my wiring for the 10th time.....I might try putting incandesants in all suspect sockets and see if a ghosting issue or somethin else....

Or you could put a non ghosting bulb there and see what happens.

Quoted from rlbohon3:

but was also thinking about swapping the coils.

Weak flippers will never be a coil issue. It’s EOS, power to the flippers or slop in them. I’d check everything else but the coils.

No lane change. I think it’s for initials only.

I would cut off the excess of the capacitor wiring and make sure the whole exposed wire has heat shrink on it. Doesn’t matter which way you install the capacitor (yellow thing)

Also try and find the right size switch stack screws.

#677 3 years ago
Quoted from Scrimmbo:

The lanes change based on the slingshots being hit, don't they?

Yep.
