Thanks boblangelius.
Now, this fire has a Gottlieb flipper assembly which I want to remove, I will order all the flipper parts neeeded, but can someone take a picture of where are soldered the wires, mostly around the switch, both left and right side, I am not familiar with systèm 11. Thanks a lot.

I'm in. This is one of those no side art Champagne Editions. I've had it for a few months and have been working on some related webpages...

The Champagne edition has NO side art? That makes it "Special" Hmm I love the Cabinet on my very nice example. It "toasts" the champagne edition! Sorry I couldn't resist.

So champagne version DOES have side art. It is simply a small cutout of the same Fire! Logos featured on the side of the regular cabinet that was stuck on to the polished oak finish rather than a full screen or decal stuck to plywood. Unfortunately, the oak finish didn’t provide a great sticking surface so the artwork fell off on a lot of them. Here’s an example (not my picture)

I played a TON of fire on location when it first came out. A few years later I ran across a champagne edition in the wild and was like WTF did they do to my favorite game? I honestly hated it. Just funny now that they’re so few and far between they are coveted a bit.

Quoted from Golgotha:

Being born and raised in Chicago. The game screamed for some tribute given to the Great Chicago Fire, and those brave firemen that fought it. Not to mention Every game already paying tribute to Mrs. O Leary's cow. My cousin currently is a Chicago Fireman so giving tribute was even more important to me. For those not from Chicago, let me explain the tower is the historic Chicago Water Tower that is a landmark for Chicago. It is the place where the firefighters were able to stop the fire's advance. The tower comes with a light and power plug. I changed the bulb to be LED and it is powered by the game. It makes for an awesome topper with historical significance. It is located at my vacation rental in the secret hidden game room. I did the same idea to my Riverboat Gambler. The Riverboat is also LED. Let me know what you think?

very nice machines, you give a lot of love to them !

I wish I could get mine going, it sits there mocking me. I completed the vast electrical work It needed but have been putting off modifying the physical stuff to make it work. My horseshoe ramp is warped on one side in the direct center of the ball path causing hang ups and the right side building balcony was completely missing so can’t lock balls. So far I’ve gotten custom PETG for the right side, the brackets, custom made L brackets to hold the fence, and a fence piece. I really just need to hunker down and combine the new Petg to old and carefully reform the horseshoe ramp. It is electrically sound and I sometimes turn it on just to hear the attract mode and with how often it makes noise it’s like it’s begging me to finish

i have a Fire which had some issues.
There was damage on the board, the components for the left slingshot were broken and burnt up. I fixed that.

The problem that remains is: i have no speech. There is normal sound, but i never hear anyone talk "save my baby"..

does anyone have an idea where to start with such a problem?

When you start a game, do you hear the cow moo? Do you hear any music? If no, I would first check the speaker connection.

I do not hear a cow. But the music is there. Trough the game there is also the normal music, sound effects like the ladder rising are there too. Or the fire you put out. But talking sounds are not there. So i guess all sounds on the speech channel.

#961 1 year ago

Have you turned the game off and reseated the socketed chips on the boards as well as reseating all of the board connectors? What happens when you do a sound test?

Ok so the test was interesting. Music is ok. On the soundtest i hear nothing. Hm as i understand there is a chip for sound and a chip for music. Maybe the chip or socket is broken...

On most system 11s, the music is generated by the sound board while the speech is generated on the main MPU board. I don’t have the exact location off the top of my head but do know that chip should be in a socket near the top, left hand side of the MPU

Hm, i have taken out the chips and put them back in, cleaned them a bit, but everything looks ok. Hm dont really know where to go from there, i don't see anything that could cause that problem.

Do your SRC networks directly above the battery holder look good? My whirlwind had strange speech distortion and errors on occasion and then I replaced the SRCs and all was well

Oh really thank you for that tip. I think they look fine on mine, but i found corrosion on other chips. I will examine the board further. The src seem easy to replace. So might as well do that.

Oh yowza. I’d be shocked if that wasn’t the source of your issues. Those ICs are toast.

#970 1 year ago

Yeah i am not an expert it that kind of stuff. I will try to clean it up, and then will see what happens
But i love that really everything else works. What an old machine, but is still flipping nice

Hey everyone, I just finished restoring/modding my 2nd Fire machine. This time it was a Champagne Edition for Pinball Garage in Hamilton, OH. I threw together a high level overview video of the work I did on this one and a comparison to my other Fire. Thought I'd share it here for those that might be interested in watching.

So, I had this random brainstorm last night. with such advancement in technology and 3d printers, We need a mod to make updated new buildings for Fire! Think how awesome they could be. and we could save whats left of our original ones.
vid for example

I’ve considered it, the parts would have to be broken down into modular sections to fit most printing beds. It would be a pretty significant investment in running lots of large test prints and lots of printer time. Pricing as a mod would be higher than the value for this game I am afraid, and might have some licensing concerns.

I had seriously considered doing this (and posted about it in this thread), but I sold my game already. I would need a clean scan of the bottom plastics (chunks are fine so long as there is overlap), or someone to literally trace them out on large paper and physically mail the paper to me.

If I was to redo it, I would probably get a base lasercut from PETG, add mounting holes, then 3d print all the buildings separately. That way you get the best of both worlds (one continuous piece like the original), and then the buildings would be replaceable (and if done right, could be printed upside down to minimize support material).

Fire! Comes home
This was the first Pin I ever bought. 1st one I ever wanted to own, long before I even became a Firefighter.
Life happened, had to let her go, but sold to two dear friends. They recently decided to downsize, and reached out to me first. So excited to have this one back.

Would love to find someone to transcribe this into sheet music one day..

Hi,
On my fire, the bell works but not the knocker... according to the manual, they seem to be pluged in //, but not really the case. I have orange/black wires for the bell and brown/viol for the knocker.
I am not really familiar with system 11, does anyone know where and how it is hooked up? thanks.

Is the knocker plugged in on the backbox? The connector is often undone to reduce noise. If it is, are there any other solenoids acting up and not working?

Yes it is plugged and it's the only one not working. knocker coil is tested and works fine. My guess is, there may be a specific transistor for the knocker but I don't know which one is it...

So the transistor for the bell and knocker are the same one. It switches via the A/C relay. Theoretically, if the knocker is the only thing not working and all other “A” side solenoids are working. It most likely means there is a break in the wiring to the knocker. When you say it tests fine, are you substituting it in a different location or are you saying it works in test mode but not gameplay? Are you getting voltage to the knocker? Go to test mode and coil test and advance until you get to the knocker, do you have power?

#993 1 year ago

yes I have power to the knocker, and also continuity on the 2 wires. I suspect a break on the diode board, between C8 and A8. I have to investigate more. Thanks.

Just got this beauty today for Fire!
Thanks to https://superskillshot.com for making this custom shooter for me. Always great service and great product. I sent him the coin and turnaround in less than two weeks.
He also did an Oktoberfest! One three years ago looks and shoots like new still.

I’m currently in the process of restoring my Champagne edition and have the game completely stripped and torn apart right now. If this is a task you’re definitely willing to consider, I’m more than Happy to help out and mail you traces of any and all plastics you need. It’d be absolutely awesome if someone were able to recreate all the buildings!

Hello,

Would someone be kind enough to post some detailed pictures of the rear of the insert board. I'm specifically interested in the SOL. 14 flash lamp arrangement and the wiring arrangement of the associated resistor board at the lower right of the insert board.

Thanks!
