Quoted from TheBeefSupreme:

Mine appears to be AE-23-800-03. I’m not sure what difference the 02 vs 03 makes. There isn’t anything in the way, it’s kicking but just isn’t quite strong enough to get the ball over that metal lip. I’m not against ordering a new coil and trying my hand at a replacement, just wasn’t sure if there was some way to adjust the power of the current one or anything like that. Also, I put on your brackets earlier today!
[quoted image]

My game has that bracket removed from the play field completely, doesn’t seem to impact game play.

Quoted from toyotaboy:

So long as the one-way gate isn't preventing it from coming out, I would say your coil is weak. Check for carbon dust on the coil sleeve (either clean it or replace it if it is dirty), check to make sure there isn't something else mechanical that's preventing it from operating correctly. Lastly check the resistance, that coil is AE-23-800-02, and the resistance should be 5.3 ohms.

I've had problems in the past with these mechs (not on this game specifically) usually taking the whole thing apart and cleaning it will help, or help you figure out which piece is broken or worn out. Also check for poor solder connection on the coil itself, that has gotten me in the past as well.

I am trying to get my Fire! back together. The back box decals that I have don't seem to be symmetrical and it's making my brain hurt. Would anyone mind taking a few measurements of the backbox art for me?

I guess maybe the points on the W, ho far each is from its respective side and then how far from top and bottom. I just spent two hours trying to align the art and failed miserably.

My friend came through for me, in case anyone else ever needs them.

Hello, found this one in Ibiza... german machine ! it was about to die so i saved it. As you can see i will need to do all inserts , if someone have some vectors...or set to sell, i'm interested. The one from pinball center are incomplete and i'm not sure about quality.

I would like also to do my own cabinet decals with a different background. is any one have all vector logo ? i will save a lot of time...

thank you

I'm not sure what your budget is, but used and repro playfields can be had for this pretty cheaply. If you do decals on the PF, you may have to clear over them. I am about to deliver this one I just finished up. It's getting packed up tonight. I can try and snap some pics for you, but the lighting where I am is terrible.

Just picked up a Fire and am wondering if toyotaboy is still making runs of the side brackets (or anyone has a set) , hole savers that were being made in runs of 9. Would be very interested in a set, have some minor issues and want to save it before it gets worse.

every time I make a run, it's harder to fill up spots (I must have sold a hundred sets easy by now). As always if anyone wants to get their own cut I made them open source:
http://www.randompinball.com/wfire

While I don't have a complete set, I do have one side (I think the last time they ran it they accidentally made an extra of one side). Happy to sell you a half set for $20?

Hello, thanks for the files, i might be interested too. i can cut acrylic, do you think i can make a acrylic version of your bracket ? like a convolux, i'm was thinking to do a solid transparent piece.

acrylic tends to crack pretty easily, if anything I would do PETG (it should thread). I make most of the brackets black to match the pattern on the walls.

A Fire! just popped up locally, and I think it could pair well with my Highspeed....

Anything I should know about the game to look for? Any known faults? Any insight much appreciated.

I would say the important things to look at are the condition of the buildings, especially the elevated parts the ball rolls on to lock the ball, they cannot be replaced as of now.

I finally got around to cutting some of the brackets designed by toyotaboy on my shapeoko! I had to enlarge several of the holes because the smallest end mill I have is an 1/8”. Still, they came out great after a bit of fiddling.

The small holes were so you can use flathead 4-40 screws and use the aluminum as the self-tapping holes. I know the gap between the ramp and the ball isn't very much, I would check to make sure the ball doesn't hit the screws sticking through.

Kudos to see someone actually use my open source design and get their own made though. Anyone else that wants to get them made I suggest they try sendcutsend.com (good prices).

Just joined the club with a nice version of Fire! Mylar is not great but not cloudy. I could use some new insert stickers. But most importantly my buildings are quite good considering this was routed.

Would love to be added to the list for the brackets if they are ever made again. Did anyone make it out of PETG? How did that hold up.

This is my first Williams and oldest game. I have a bunch to learn but this thread has already been very helpful so thank you to all who have contributed to this club.

Anyone know where I can find an original brass lockdown bar for a champagne edition?

Worn is ok - actually preferred, given that the rest of my trim is also worn. I'm not really interested in paying to re-plate everything.

Hello i need to remove Veneer on my Fire! and i'm not sure about what to do . i would like a wood finish , like Champagne edition , do you think i use the wood from cabinet + tint or i just put decals with fake wood ? thanks

That's not veneer, it looks like you're losing the outer layer of the plywood. You can absolutely get veneer sheets in any wood finish you want. I would recommend stripping the rest of that outer layer, sanding, clearcoating, then applying the veneer with some strong adhesive (overlap the edges), then use a router to trim it (same way they do kitchen countertops).

Is anyone interested in a NOS playfield? It still has the factory mylar installed. Figured I'd mention it here before making a listing.

Hi guys,
I'm finishing a pf swap on my fire, but I am a bit dazzled here.
Would anyone have an under pf pic of this area (left kickbig) ?

I have only 2 wired switches going there, and that seems ok with the manual, but I have 3 assies?

Hello all
I was wondering what to do on my restoration. Does anyone have any suggestions on sourcing the decals for a fire champagne edition. I want to keep it close to original and my cab is really nice and don’t know what to do about the decals.
Thanks

New club member! Mine sat for about a year as I slowly messed with it. I really wanted to make it a faux champagne as the right side of the cabinet was pretty bad, but after procrastinating forever and finally getting the hammered gold powder coating ( I clear coated the lockdown and side rails as I heard this finish tarnishes from alot of touching) I good with the rough and trashed side and it really doesnt bug me. I made a fun custom shooter rod that spins like you are opening a water valve. The modfather busted my balls and said "How are you going to get the glass on/off" and shit he was right. However I did make the shooter rod so I can finger loosen the front nut and just take off the valve wheel easy peasy. I also made some custom rule cards (posted here to share at full size) and some custom artblades if anyone is interested I do have some available. Mooooo!

Toyotaboy has agreed to have another set of the fire support brackets made, if there is enough interest. I realize a lot of owners have previously purchased these, but I'm hoping there's enough new owners that may want them. I believe we need a list of nine or more. These are support brackets he designed, that help to strengthen the plastic area where the ball goes when the outer ramps are up. PM me or add your name to this post if interested. Thanks!

Here ya go! NOS Fire! Plastic Houses on EBay. Lookup “Williams Pinball 1987 FIRE! Building NOS”. Selling individually but the whole set is there! I’m not the seller, nor do I know them. Just letting you guys in need of buildings know.

Those are the most beat up NOS parts. Holes are shot and that looks like a hairline crack.

The prices have just gotten dumb for these houses on ebay.
I get there unobtainable. But man, when I listed houses years ago no one was paying this.

Just about 700 shipped for the left house and two horseshoe houses. Unbelievable, but it happend.
Part of me thinks it would have been cheaper to find a better Fire!, than buy these. Marry two machines into 1 good one, sell the left over machine.
I know, I did this year's ago.
