Cleaning up a Williams Liberty Bell (1977)
I had a hard time finding good reference for the apron. As like many machines, mine was crusted with multiple residue of stickers, likely from licensing when the machine was on route.
I know from experience that even mild cleaners can remove the ink (simple green, 409, bleache white, etc). AVOID THOSE
Even dish soap and water will remove a small amount of ink.
What I wanted to share is GOO GONE is safe for the residue removal. It had no impact on the color ink.
I’ve found one source for a sticker/decal. But the eBay listing has no documentation and the vendor was less than helpful. I’m not willing to start a complete strip down without confidence I can get it back.
I know this end product is not “new” condition… but neither is my cabinet. I’m happy with the result… no ugly sticker residue, mostly intact original ink, and the classic feel of the original.
