Is there a trick to setting the tension on the horseshoe switch? Too loose and it don't make contact. Too tight and the target won't drop. This seems like a bad design.

Has anyone come up with a reed switch and magnet. Looks like a 1/2 inch diameter magnet would fit nicely in the back of the target where the horseshoe would be. Then add a reed switch where the PC board would be.

Thanks

Bob

They are pretty bad. I 3d printed a bracket with microswitches. The problem with Reed switches it would require 2 per target. The contacts have 2 switches in one. One is momentary on-off and the second one is full on. It's to trigger drop target points and one for all targets down. Good luck.

If you want to get your drops right buy the siegecraft drop slider boards (about $5 each) and new horseshoe sliders and you will be good for a long time. I don't remember if you need the right or left hand sliders. Check before you order.

Thanks Jeewiz,

Micro switches would be a good idea too. Very little friction.

My targets don't use the momentary portion of the PC board. There are only two wires connected to each board. The outside traces are not connected. - See photos - That's why I thought the reed switch might work.

If I can find the parts I may just try making something. I was hoping someone had already made a kit.

I have found a trick that works for me & may be worth trying. Get an extra old set of contacts, remove the contacts from each wiper & mount behind - essentially a double wiper. I can get a good contact without too much tension & they drop fine. Works well.

You can see what I mean on my post here...

Thanks guys,

I just got new horseshoe contacts from Marco. I looked at the slider boards but mine were in good shape and they cleaned up nice. Mine also had the horseshoe back plate when I got it. I was going to get new ones but Marco was out of stock.

If I attempt the reed switch idea I'll let you know how it worked.

Thanks

Bob
