Game is reset to -ZERO- via 5-pulses to the score wheels. One set of 5 if that resets all numbers to -ZERO- ; or (2) sets if the wheels read 1-4. Game often issues only a single 5 pulse impulse leaving wheels short of -ZERO-. Not always. Any suggestions ?

If you set the score reels for 1-1-1-1 how far do they reset?

Looking for faulty zero switches on one or more reels.

This is the bizarre part : sometimes to 6-6-6-6 sometimes correctly to zero. Same behavior for each of the 4 players when all 4 are engaged. Also does not allow reset on Player-1 Ball 2 at all. Thanks !

If you look at the schematic, the zero switches are responsible for keeping the reset relay energized through its self-hold switch.

If you look at the score reel zero switches you will see a switch with pairs of yellow wire on one side and blue/brown on the other.

If any of the zero switches are closed (score reel not at zero) that completes the circuit between the yellow wire and the blue/brown wire and should keep the reset relay energized. This is how they implement the logic of "reel 1 not at zero OR reel 2 not at zero OR . . . .".

Carefully examine every zero switch to make sure that the pairs of wires are well joined. The wires are daisy chained from reel to reel so any dodgy connection there could cause your issue. You may also want to reseat and clean the jones plugs to ensure a good connection for the zero switch circuit. It would be good to identify the blue/brown wire on the jones plug and ensure good continuity all the way to the reset relay.

Hi freddo30, Dr_Nybble +
I agree with Dr-Nybble: Daisy-chained Zero-Position-Switches (Score-Drums) come together as ONE wire-blue-brown - comes to JONES-Plug, then going down into the Cabinet and to "Self-Hold-Switch on Reset-Relay". And this needs a careful inspection.

From the fact "ALL 16 Score-Drums have the fault": I clue "not very likely fault(s) on Score-Drim-Zero-Position-Switch". I say (see written above) --- see JPG: "Red line" - THERE You have a wire broken-off from a Solder-Lug - wires are stiff, they stay in place (sometimes) --- a bit of shaking and the broken-off end moves away a bit - NO connection --- a bit of shaking - connection again.
I believe (please look-up in the pin): On the Switch on Reset-Relay TWO wires-blue-brown are soldered-on - ONE is good (the connection to Score-Motor-Switch-IND-C) and the OTHER one is bad: The connecting wire up - through Junes-Plug to Score-Drums-Zero-Pos-Sws.

freddo30, You +/- write "ALWAYS ALL Score-Drums reset (means stepping forward) to 6666 6666 6666 6666. To support my theory: Look at JPG at text "shown again" - see (?): The turning
Score-Motor does open-again (closed) SCM-IND-D VERY LATE (at the very end of a turn) - the "good stepping to 6666" actually is done BECAUSE the Reset-Relay is FEEDED through "my green wiring" - through the SCM-IND-D CLOSED for (almost a) complete turn.

Look, write - we may want to use a Jumper-Wire to jumper exactly "my marked red" line, greetings Rolf

Hi freddo30
some add-on to my post-5: You start a game - "No Luck" - NOT completely resetted Score-Drums --- You then toggle-off the main 110VAC Power-Switch - You toggle-on, You start a game --- question: Does the pin NOW reset ?
IF (if) "Yes": You may change the pin to "Free-Play", here: http://www.pinrepair.com/em/index3.htm#free --- and live with - means: You can play. Greetings Rolf

Hello and thank you all so much.
Rolf, yes ; Toggle -OFF- then toggle -ON- will reset fully to zero.
Many suggestions ; I'm sure I can hunt it down now.
Nothing is more annoying than intermittent problems.
My Saturday afternoon entertainment .
Thanks again - you're very helpful (and smart)
