Hey everyone
I have a problem with my STTNG that has been driving me nuts for a while. Every time I start the game up, before the *bing* from the speakers, there is a short, low squeal or a quick scratching noise that lasts less than a second. Then, whenever the game is shut off, there is a high pitched squeal for about a second. It is rarely the same sound and the length that the game is on seems to affect the shut-off sound, but not consistently. I haven't found any info on Clay's guides on pinwiki. I have replaced the two smoothing caps at c20 and c21 to no effect, but not the coupling caps at c32 and c41. To me, it sounds like capacitors charging and discharging. Any ideas?

Not sure what you're talking about. Can you get a video?

I will try to get one up tomorrow. Thanks.

Discharging caps is exactly what you are hearing. This causes no damage and isn't a big deal.

I know what you're talking about, my WCS is the same! Also interested in a solution. Was the "no pop kit" ever released for DCS machines? Are the schematics for these around?

Here is a link to the schematics. http://www.pinballcontrollers.com/files/schematics/wpc-s.pdf On my game, the squeal during shutdown can be quite loud. Loud enough that I get annoying looks from my wife sometimes. Even if it is not damaging, I was hoping for a solution just to preserve family harmony!
