I am in the process of freshening up my 1956 Williams Crane. Part of that was removing the beans that serve as the “gravel”. I’ve never completely removed the beans since I’ve owned it so I was curious as to how much was in there. To my surprise, I removed about 100lbs between what was in the pit and underneath where they seemed to have spilled into every cavity.
I think mine was basically overfilled but this seemed to make it look more realistic than some of the other games I’ve seen which have just a thin layer at the bottom.
When I go to refill it, I’m either going to put much less back in or fabricate an insert that will create a false bottom. Seems like all that extra weight is not good long term for the cabinet. The crane bucket really only has the ability to move the top layer of beans anyway.
I sure would like to find a manual for this game which told the operator how much or to what level the beans should be filled. Has anyone run across one for this game? Also, is anyone aware of whether a schematic exists?
