When ball drains the incorrect bonus is awarded.
For example, say the bonus is 20,000 at exit.
The machine may give you 50,000, 120,000, 300,000, all over the place.
The bonus advances on the playfield as it should, the problem is upon drain.
Thoughts and repair tips please!

Thanks, Ron

Does the Playfield Bonus count down too slowly, or does the score advance too quickly?

I would take a look at the Bonus stepper; it should move smoothly. Also at the '0' pos. M/B sw.

Howard, the playfield bonus steps down at a smooth even rate, the scores appear to ring up at normal speed.
Looks OK to me.

Curriedog, I will look at the bonus stepper, I have serviced those in the past.

Not sure what to do with the "0" pos. M/B sw. or where it is.

Does it keep awarding the excess bonus after the the Playfield bonus reaches zero?

It will be something like, right on the unit.

Hi guys, here's the latest.

Howard, When the machine gives me too much bonus, it does look like the score advances pretty quickly.
The bonus stops when it reaches zero.

Curriedog, I checked the bonus stepper it looks good, seems to click as it should.
I cleaned all the switches on the M/B unit.

Attached is a pic of the switches when the bonus is at zero, then 10,000 and higher.

Single bonus score should count up in groups of 50,000
Double bonus score should count up in groups of 20,000
Is this what's happening or what?

Yes, single bonus counts in groups of 50,000, double bonus groups of 20,000.

Say I have 100,000 in single bonus showing, that would give me (2) 50,000 counts at drain.

The last ball I just tried gave me (19) 50,000 point groups at drain, as best I could count.

960,000 in bonus when I should have got 100,000!

I would say the score advances too quickly.

Problem solved!

It was the bonus reset relay, located next to the bonus stepper, 2 contacts needed adjusting.

The problem was it was not labeled, fumbled through the schematic and located it.

Still learning!

Thank you fellow pinsiders!
