I didn't realize there was an AP club. This was my first pin and I still have it. I've got repro BG and plastics installed. I'm still mulling over whether or not to get a repro PF.

An upgrade I did some years ago is replace the horseshoe switches with leaf switches. AP works fine with switches staying closed when a drop target is down.

IIRC, I purchased a 5 bank drop target assembly from Jungle Lord to get the bracket for mounting leaf switches. I've had very reliable drop targets after this conversion.

Here's a post where someone did the conversion and has a pic: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/alien-poker-switch-matrix-problem#post-2263724

Quoted from Firebird71:

I'm still trying to fine tune mine but they're doing fairly well now. From what I can tell, it's mostly a balancing act. If you have too much tension between your horse shoes and the PCB behind you'll get sticky targets. If you go too little tension you'll get drops of the target that don't register which really messes up how this game performs.

It's worth noting that AP can be converted to leaf switches for the drop target bank so it doesn't have to rely on the horseshoe contacts at all. It has been mentioned (by me) around here somewhere with more details, but not sure where off the top of my head. I think someone else did it and posted pics. I did the mod on mine using a bracket from Jungle Lord, I believe. AP does not continuously count the drop if the switch remains closed, so it can support this style. I have had superb drop target performance since doing it.
