I double checked just to be sure. Yep, it does!

Quoted from ryanwanger:Time for me to do a flipper rebuild - mine are weak! What are the right parts for these flippers? The manual I see online is only for settings etc, and a few months ago I almost ordered a rebuild kit parts online, but the parts didn't look like they matched what is in my machine.
It's a bit expensive but I went with the full fliptronic rebuild kit from Pinball Life and it rocks. Much easier and cheaper to rebuild in the future too.

The original base plates are available from PBL, but you only need to replace them if the coil stop is worn. I find that these style tend to hold up quite well. The coil stop should be 0.25" tall (or at least, it is on the PBL remakes, and also on most of my original ones). They don't make links with holes that fit the roll pins used in the original cranks, so you'll need to get full crank+plunger assemblies. Just make sure you get the ones with 'skinny' links like this: https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/03-8050-1. Rest of the part numbers should be findable in the parts manual: http://www.planetarypinball.com/reference/partsmanuals/WMS_Parts_1980/files/mobile/index.html#91
I'm not a fan of the fliptronics replacement. I've played games with it and they just don't feel the same, plus I worry about the stroke distance being different due to different mechs.
Quoted from Squeakman:Love my AP. Mine has a nos playfield but needs new plastics and the back glass has seen better days.
[quoted image]
that playfield looks amazing. I've never seen an original look that good.
Since you'll take a project, I suggest you get the repo PF from Europe.
It took a while to find one without too much wear from the lauch.
Too many down to the wood under the target bank.
My wife recently hit 800 000+ and took the high score.

Your flipper travel length looks the same as mine does with Fliptronic assemblies.
I didn't realize there was an AP club. This was my first pin and I still have it. I've got repro BG and plastics installed. I'm still mulling over whether or not to get a repro PF.
An upgrade I did some years ago is replace the horseshoe switches with leaf switches. AP works fine with switches staying closed when a drop target is down.
IIRC, I purchased a 5 bank drop target assembly from Jungle Lord to get the bracket for mounting leaf switches. I've had very reliable drop targets after this conversion.
Here's a post where someone did the conversion and has a pic: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/alien-poker-switch-matrix-problem#post-2263724
Anyone out there put in the repo PF?
Wondering how the process went. I have heard CPR ones sometimes don't have the backside holes in the right spots.
That's one of those way down the road upgrades for me.
Love the game, it's just so slow compared to my Sterns.
Way more ball spin from this game.
I’m restoring one now
I’m about half way done the back side and so far no real complaints but I’ll report back when finished.
Quoted from Xenon75:Started my swap last night. Have the t-nuts and new GI lamp sockets in. Looks like everything is in the right spot, nice deep dimples. Very nice clearcoat.
take lots of pics! Love to see what I’m in for...
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Is anyone close to their alien poker and can do me a favor? Could someone please take a picture of the wiring for the top right flipper?
Thanks!
Unfortunately that picture is just a little too dark to see the wire colors and which lugs they are attached. Does anyone else have a shot of that upper right flipper?
Thanks!
I was looking in the Meteor club and someone had made some nice aftermarket boards for the troublesome metal lamp strips in that game...... poked around on their website and they also have a set for Alien Poker. I don't think this has been mentioned here before, but is certainly of interest!
I was wondering if anyone has the schematic/manual pdf, drop target decal file and cab stencil file? I have a firepower and there is a fantastic web site devoted to it. Didnt know if there was one for alien Poker also?

cab stencil can be purchased from pinball pimp:
Im more of a do it yourself guy. I have a us cutter stencil machine, didnt know if anyone had a file already. The same for making new drop target decals.
I colour matched one years ago then i went to use it on a second cabinet and it was way off ....so i would say just pick a blue and red that you like or is close and go with that.
This last cabinet is done with Solignum Black, Navy blue & red

Looks great. Did you make your own stencil or buy?
These are from the Pimp!
My first 2 alien pokers were with home made stencils which wasnt too bad to make as it is a easy design but i would definatly go with the Pinball Pimp for stencils.
The time and effort to make some for a one time isnt worth it.

i've never really had the metal rows troublesome. My cosmic gunfight and alien poker have them and never really have a problem. Kiss is the one with the big plate that seems to be flaky.
Quoted from ss-pinball:Where are all of the Alien Poker projects?
I have a restoration goin on right now. My $300 Alien Poker restore.

Quoted from ss-pinball:Where are all of the Alien Poker projects?
I bought one in upstate NY last summer that was pretty project-y. It has a Buthamburg playfield in it now. So, look in upstate NY 6 months ago? It was on FB marketplace for quite a while, though kind of in the middle of nowhere.
Quoted from ss-pinball:Where are all of the Alien Poker projects?
i can throw up some pictures of mine....im about half way but put it on the back burner to do a couple taf's and sttng....customers stuff comes first, seem tough to get your own stuff done.
Quoted from PinballPimp:That cabinet came out AWESOME!
YA its the second AP i have done so far and looks great as with other stencils from you. I still want to do my pink panther when your ready but i have alot to keep me busy till then.
Looking at game adjustments. Function 35. What is preferred. Reset to 100,000 on drain or keep memory?
I set mine on memory after playing for a month or two. I also removed the "ball guard" below the two right flippers so that the ball can drain there. To make this work the same way you can see in the Papa gameplay video, I had to change the way the right flipper switch was wired in my game to make stage flipping work correctly (inner flipper activates activates first).

That's how mine works, and my Laser Cue too. Weird that yours was backwards....
Quoted from zacaj:Weird that yours was backwards....
I am guessing an old repair.
The one drawback of learning to do stage flipping with Alien Poker is that I can only do it with the right flipper...
That was a nightmare for my Tech.
It works but I can't hold it down for extended periods without risking damage.
I'll be picking up an Alien Poker tomorrow! Had a Laser Cue for a time and I sorely miss it. Hopefully it won't take too much to get going and playing well. So glad to have this game joining the collection.
I have a stupid question in regards to the sound and speech board. I found the test button on the larger square board, but it doesn't play speech. I've looked on the smaller board and couldn't find any test buttons either, only a pot that controls the volume. What am I missing?
20200419_130510 (resized).jpg
To add, I do hear some speech during play. "Alien Poker" on game start, "Joker" "Raise" and some other words, but there are some sounds that are garbled or missing altogether I think.
Quoted from zacaj:The test button on the square board should play speech and sounds.
It only goes through the sounds. After the last sound effect, it cycles all over again. But like I mentioned, some words play during gameplay. Wouldn't those words play during test as well?
The dipswitches on the top of the sound board control whether speech is on or off. The manual should tell you what to set them to.
It sounds like you might be missing some speech? I would suspect either the sockets on the speech board or perhaps the ROMs are starting to fail.
The test button on the sound board should cycle through speech as well.
I can provide roms . I am rompingirl on ebay but it is better to deal direct. You have original speech proms in there that are 40 years old. That would be a good place to start. Alien poker is a great game.
Have a look for flat rate board repair in your area.
I had mine done.
Avoid the bulletproofing threads. Your 40 year old board won't like the strain of all that work. Too many things that can go wrong.
Sometimes the specialist is worth it.
Quoted from Astill:I can provide roms . I am rompingirl on ebay but it is better to deal direct. You have original speech proms in there that are 40 years old. That would be a good place to start. Alien poker is a great game.
Cool. I've bought from you before (Flash Gordon roms). I will certainly keep you in mind if I need to replace them.
I have new caps coming and will replace the sockets as well. I've already reflowed solder to the header pins and that didn't help. There are also 2 x 4A slow blow fuses on the board that I need to replace. I haven't looked at the schematic yet, but does anyone know what those fuses power? one of them was blown (on the right) and the other was good (on the left). I replaced the blown one with a 3A slow blow, as that was what I had on hand. It hasn't blown yet, but I'll replace it with the correct value as soon as I can find them.
I'll try those first and go from there.
