I have a 1966 williams 8 ball and it was rerubbered . The shot into the horseshoe seems more often than not to bounce back or its travel impeded. My question is was there a plastic or a guide underneath the actual horseshoe plastic that might be missing in my game , there seems to be 4 holes that there possible could be , not unlike middle plastics on a bally game . if there wasnt should i just increase the size of the rubbers? thanks in advance

Hard to tell from this pic from IPDB, but it doesn't appear so.

This is a picture of my 8-Ball center horseshoe area with the plastic removed. It has a metal lane guide in there that it sounds from your description (and that picture from the IPDB) is missing from yours.

Hope this helps it's a cool fun game!! (I really need to get mine finished and up in my lineup!!)

You can buy small pieces of aluminum bar at Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, etc. and form it around something of the appropriate diameter. If you want it to look exactly like what is shown in the picture, you would have to order extruded aluminum structural angle (McMaster would probably have it), or channel (and cut one side off). It's pretty much covered up by the plastic though, so I would just use bar stock.

There are a few other Williams games with a horseshoe shot. I recently sold my Smarty but it had one and I think that piece was slightly updated. I'd try to figure out all the games with this feature and see if any are being parted on Mr. Pinball or Ebay.
