I have a William 3-6 master display that has ghosting (partial lighting) on the top segment. Also player 1 and 2 show the same ghosting. It must be one if the IC chips because I have other master displays that are not showing this problem. Any one have an educated guess of which chip is the problem? Thanks.

IC5, 4543, is the decoder IC.
IC9, 7180, converts the logic level to -100v
R1 is a 10k resistor in series between the 7180 and display glass for segment "a" the top one.

Make sure R1 isnt fried before fussing with IC chips, specially the obsolete one, the 7180.

If you know how to use a logic probe. Compare the "a" segment output from the decoder to all the other segments. Find out if there is a logic level issue before it ramps down to a -100v signal.
