If you haven't heard, third Star Trek reboot is shooting, and fourth has been confirmed.

How long does Stern have the licensing for this franchise?

Do you think code will be updated as new files are released?

I would say highly unlikely.

Not happening judging by their other movie-based releases.

Jonathan @ Pinball Magazine had proposed to Gary to do a software update & new translite for later sequels to existing pinballs, but Gary shot that down saying too expensive.

This would take more than a code update to do right as all of the inserts relate to missions from the first two movies. Star Trek just needs one last update to fix minor bugs. I don't think they should spend their coding resources doing anything more as the game is pretty great right now.

And it probably wouldn't sell that well, so why bother?

Well, and add to that that the code update is free to all existing owners, so what's in it for Stern? Another small run of machines? I can see where the math doesn't add up.

As a Fan, I think this is a great Idea.
However, I see Stern having nothing to do with it.
