    Quoted from FYMF:

-Former president of ASHA. Heard of it?
-Ran the entire European chapter of nurses as a full bird colonel before that.
    -Tenured at 2 top universities.
-published over a dozen college health books
-Former president of Diogene medical prior to international acquisition.
Or we could ask my uncle who is the head of pediatric infectious disease association of the entire nation.
But yes. You're more qualified. Gtfo of here
EDIT: my aunts team discovered the link between HPV and cervical cancer which lead to the direct development of gardasil so to answer your questions she saved a fuck ton more lives then you're casually putting into jeopardy.

You did not answer my question; how many people's safety and lives is she directly responsible for every single day?

Since you dodged the question I'll assume it is zero.

    Good day sir.

They just postponed the NHL season.

I explain she ran the entire European theater of nurses.

Ran ASHA ..lol so much more and so many more examples as to how many people she protected AND saved.

100? We are talking in the scopes of hundreds of thousands bud but you keep doing what you've proven yourself best at doing and assume.

Got this response via Facebook Messenger from the official page.

“We have no plan to cancel the show. Concerning the current situation we are considering alternatives. At this time we are looking to maybe pushing the show out to June. We will update our website / Facebook once we have everything worked out.“

She called to carpet by the state if a single person dies?

Nope. I will if it happens on my watch with charges to follow. So the situation is not academic to me, there is real world consequences.

For your aunt? Not so much.

    Just got this email.

Texas Pinball Festival is cancelled for March 27-29, 2020.

Our hearts are broken to have to announce the 2020 Texas Pinball Festival scheduled for March 27-29 is cancelled. This decision was not an easy one to make, and we know many of you are as disappointed as we are.

The World Health Organization has declared the COVID-19 virus a global pandemic and the safety and security of our guests is our top priority. What affects us even more directly is that President Trump has suspended travel from most of Europe and many of our vendors and special guests have contacted us in the last 24 hours to notify us they would not be coming to TPF due to concern for the COVID-19 threat. In addition, Exhibitors have begun cancelling. We've said it many times... Without the Exhibitors, there is no show.

We cannot express how devastating this is to TPF and to us personally.

We are asking everyone to give us a few weeks to develop a plan, as we work with the venue and our merchants. We hope you can weather this storm with us and be patient. We promise to do everything we can to save the Texas Pinball Festival.

Initially, tournament entries will be refunded and purchased merchandise marked “pick up at the show” will be mailed. We expect to be able to transfer general admission to TPF2021.

We want to thank everyone that stood by us offering their help and support. You don’t know how much that means to us. We will be in touch.

Not looking promising for this show to go on as planned. Hoping the organizers can work something out with the venue to move this to another weekend down the road, June being mentioned on the site. My guess is that it's going to be tough working anything out with the Atown fairgrounds goofballs though, will be interesting to see what transpires.

I don't think this Coronavirus thing is going to "go away" anytime soon. They are closing schools down, doing away with large crowds, etc to slow the spread of the virus down but it isn't going to disappear in a couple weeks or months. I have a feeling we will be luck to see life back to "semi normal" by 2021 show dates let alone a few weeks down the road.

Only time will tell but thinking the show might happen a couple months down the road is wishful thinking in my eyes. For now everyone do the best they can to stay safe & healthy. Some things are just more important than a pinball show and being alive happens to be one of them.

    Quoted from gdonovan:

FYI been party to several meetings and planning sessions with state and local health officials regarding this event so therefor I'd wager I'm better informed than the average person on Pinside watching TV. Without exception there is consensus this is overblown and there is epic amounts of ass covering by officials because the media is flogging this in the public eye and people want "something done." It is a concern of ours of course since the majority of cases that are fatal are people with compromised systems over the age of 60 which is the bulk of the people in our care. And we have taken steps to mitigate this risk at our facility as would be prudent.
We have numerous protocols and propositioned supplies in place for almost any event. We literately have a 4.5" thick book on the shelf next to me where almost anything and everything is gamed out in advance should an emergency arise and we drill with other facilities and agencies several times a year as required by the state and feds. Pandemics, storms, fire, floods, Anthrax, mass shooter drills, nuclear plant going up, you name it.
Take normal flu precautions as you should be doing anyways. Most people get ill as they have poor situational awareness as to what they are touching and where they place their hands next. If creeps me out to no end watching people pushing a shopping cart and then causally touch their face or worse stick a finger in their mouth. Gross but I see people do it all the time. How many ill people touched that cart in the last 24 hours? Since I have been in healthcare the number of illness that take me out of work has dropped to less than one every 2 years.
Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands and watch where you put them is the best advice I can give you. Stay out of excessively crowded areas. You would not catch me flying or on a cruise ship for love or money right now, would not be prudent.

Why should anyone trust you? You don’t even display where your from. So do tell, where are all these important meetings with big shots taking place?

I live in a NW suburb of New York City. There. Is. No. Panic. Not surprised, because New Yorkers have their shit together. Mayor finally prohibited events of 500+ people, but the vast majority of public schools (not colleges) remain open. Plan in place to get 10% of the city workforce remote right now, and more as possible, although many city employees do need to be at their posts.

Gov is tired of waiting for clown shoes to do something, anything, positive or productive, so he’s working with 20 independent labs to get testing done in the state and the state is manufacturing its own hand sanitizer. By the ton. New York baby. We get the job done.

Quoted from Irishbastard:You don't see "Panic" anywhere? Do you live under a rock? There are literally "individuals" walking around with trash bags on their heads, and gas masks (with out filters). Try having a kid at home projectile vomiting and just wanting to pick up a bottle of Clorox wipes and Pedialyte frozen pops. I went to ten stores yesterday, the hoarding, " end of the world " "individuals" cleared everything out. If I had run into one, there was a 99% chance I would have speed tracked the end of their world. Its getting out of control, and the Media is to blame. I also had the privilege of listening to "individuals " in my doctor's waiting room yesterday talking about not buying anything made in China because you will "catch the virus ", as the conversation progressed all I wanted to do was smash my head into the wall next to me. (P.S. My doctor said, "Wash your hands, you'll be fine".)

Same goes for you. Where do you live?

Is it wrong that I really want to know who this guy is now? lol.

    Quoted from Colsond3:

Watching all of the personal attacks and condescension on here anymore over differences in opinion and/or interpretation of information is just sad.

Been like that for the last 2-3 years. Or a lot worse, anyways. I can pinpoint an exact reason for it, but.....I'm not allowed to post it, so....

Solution: get gdonavan to be the head nurse at pinfest. He can explain that the virus is media hype and be responsible for the many lives present. We can then see the heroism and wisdom in the flesh!

Announcement coming tomorrow. Pinsiders who know more than the CDC or WHO are probably nonexistent. On the Pinfest Scheduling dates there is one voice I am listening to. Ivan. And what does Europe, Rhode Island, NY, and Connecticut have to do with Allentown, PA. Not one F’n thing.

Ivan also has to consider attendance. If the doors open and few people show, he’s out a LOT of money.

If Allentown is cancelled - we’re gonna have much bigger problems to worry about around that time.

At this point - big picture people.

I agree with this. Most of us already took time off from work, booked Hotels, and planned for their families to let us have our weekend. Re: a new date. Some families will adjust others may already be committed to family vacations, work conferences and doctor appointments / surgeries. Employers may not be able to grant the new time off request. Now add in that Pintastic and other events are already on the near horizon. I had plane tickets for TPF so it’s not been a very positive evening for myself. Shit happens.

    #80 4 years ago

Honestly I would say NO! I really think this whole thing is going to simmer down over the next 30 days. This is the USA man, we've been through everything from Pearl Harbor to 911... you can't keep an American pinned down for long. The media has gone nuts, and created this panic. At the end of the day everything is going to settle down in a couple weeks. People are going to get back to normal. I think May is when everyone turns the page no matter what is happening.

Isn't NY where they were going around sucker punching old dudes on the streets for video likes?

    Quoted from SilverballSleuth:

Personally - I Don’t think either of these events will be taking place.

I agree with above post 100% but even if they do take place I wouldn't expect a great turnout at either this year. There is a huge difference between something like this and your "typical flu". At this point there is really no history of how to handle this. It will be at least two years before they can develop & test vaccine (according to everything I have read about that end of things). And they don't even have a vaccine figured out at this point let alone starting to lab test it. They don't know enough about the Coronavirus to even know exactly how it spreads, how long it can lay dormant, etc. So I doubt much will change in a couple months.

Right now I think it is more important to be thinking about your family's health. Trying to do all we can to keep this from spreading any more than is necessary & the financial impact this is going to have world wide than worrying about a couple pinball shows.

I know pinball is important to a lot of people here but this isn't the time to be worrying about the "what ifs" with a pinball show.

Looks like a rando social media post that was picked up by that prestigious media organization for click bait: Yahoo. I saw nothing in that video that indicated that was even NYC. Or even this week.

That looks more like Black Friday at a New Jersey Sams Club.
