I'm strongly considering a Metallica premium, which would make my collection four total, including an IM. With it being the same designer and very similar layout, I'm wondering if it's going to be too close of a game with IM for a smallish set of pins.

Obviously, Metallica brings some great toys and artwork, but there's a lot of similarities. Ramps and pop bumpers are in the same location, targets on the left, two flippers, same style fan layout, and primary toys are in the same locations.

Anyways, seems very similar to me. Maybe I'm over thinking it. Thoughts?

No. Very different.

If/when you get a Metallica pin you won't even need any other pins anymore

#4 11 years ago

Not even close. Now if you had an Austin Powers I would say yes.

No different layout

Plus my Metallica Le is going next to ironman and I'm not worried

Can we let you know once we've played Metallica? It's not even out yet.

It will definitely clash. Might also clash with your pink tutu

Did you just ask if your pins will clash?

Yep, you're overthinking it. Good catch on the geometry being similar, but that's even more reason for me to want one. Plus there's a lot more going on in Metallica - captive ball, ball scoop on the lower right, snake kick-out, inline drops...as much as I love my IM, I think I will love MET even more.

I am thinking he means gameplay take it easy

I agree I think Bord def used some ironman in this design. That said..there are many differences dont think its an issue. I will glady take your ironman if there is

Love it. Like watching your first born chick jump off the limb and fly... This is no hobby anymore my friends. It is getting serious. By the way, Tiger, what are you wearing Friday night to the vigil?

We won't know until we play it.

It's impossible for anyone to answer this without actually having played the game...

Its obvious that you will need to hire a fung shui master so that your pinball experience will be in harmony with your chi. Do they even have chi in Wyoming?

I will have the same set up and I think they will be complementary to each other. So keep IM

There is no possible way to tell until the game is played.

Clash isn't a term exclusive to colors and fashion. I'm trying to maintain a small collection with some variety between my pins.

Metallica does look very similar to the layout of IM. The outer loop is the same, pop bumpers are in the same spot, the drop targets are in the same spot as war machine, the snake/captured ball is in the same spot as whiplash, the ramps are in the same areas and have a similar angle, and the targets on the left are the same.

I'm curious to see what the rules are.

Most important factor as to whether or not these games (or any two games, for that matter) will be similar- in my opinion.

It's a fair question. I'm sweating out the fact right now that my MET, WOZ, ST (new one), Predator and Hobbitt may not entirely mesh. Anyone want to make a trade? Plus or minus cash?

It will definitely clash.

I wouldn't mind a "Clash" pinball machine.
