Rap music LOL.

Quoted from TheLaw:

Pretty standard thread calling people boomers for not paying attention to the Billboard 200 that isn't relevant to anyone but boomers

It's an educational thread to help Boomers stay current in the only music genre they seem to like, Rock.

If you tell your grandkids that there is a new Tool album, that will prove you are the superboomer they always knew you were.

If you tell them you like the new MGK, they will have a tiny amount of commonality with you.

God I hope not, if rock comes back at least let it actually have the blues influence that made rock n roll. This over produced emo, pop, rap, punk, rock, is dreadful.

P.S. Kate goes through skinny kids with tats like shoes, she just doesn't give a fuck and is as bad as the men. All the power to her but its hardly an accomplishment for the dude.

It's the newest fad, for the last 40 years...

Halsey was a much better catch:

Even back when blues rock was a thing, it was not that popular.

Led Zep never had a #1 single.

Doesn't make it any good!

It's pop music, so it's not supposed to be good or talented.

Machine Gun Kelly - Selling Tickets To My Downfall (Official Audio)

This sounds like rehashed American HiFi or Fountains of Wayne to me. I thought this was what people called “Emo” as opposed to “rock”?

Im not following the scene, but for me, this MGK stuff is as lightweight and formulaic as can be. YMMV of course.

Emo is more emotional, winny singing about feelings.

Think Cursive, Panic!, Sunny Day

Bad Wolves
Bring Me The Horizon
Killswitch Engage (perhaps too heavy for Rock)
So so much mo’ better out there.
Etc.

MGK better save his money ‘cause he sure as hell isn’t saving rock...

PS Megan Thee Stallion FTMFW!

Rocks not dead, Vid. Cmon. Billboard Tops? You're looking in the wrong direction.

Nah, these guys got the video all wrong. Just one of them needs to stand in front of an empty pool and sway back and forth a little--or something.

Blame Ke$ha for starting that trend...

Quoted from vid1900:

Last month MGK's rock album debut at #1 on Billboard's Top 200.
Not the "Rock Chart", or the "Alternative Chart", but the real Top 200
It's probably been years since a guitar based rock band hit #1 on the 200 (and normally that's some dinosaur band, who's best work is decades behind them).
Will kids start liking rock music again, as long as it's not their grandfather's rock?

I needed a good laugh for 2020 and this just did it.

Ramstein saved rock and roll for me.

No makeup. Preferred. What are you gonna do. They got used to eye makeup.

Rock doesn’t need saving, there’s tons of great bands out there, you just need to find them.

Listen to Octane on Sirius Xm, you’ll be up to speed quick

That's what's great about a new band, debuting at #1, and being played on top40 radio stations.

Kids don't need to go look for it. It's tossed in with all the other Urban music of the day.

Serious question: Do kids listen to SiriusXM?

I've only heard it myself when I get the free 6 months that comes with a new car.

If you had to pay for something, would you get Spotify or SiriusXM ?
