Quoted from cjmjmm2006:

That is correct. I hope they do make more. I hope they can keep the game in its current form and for the same price.

I think expecting it to come out and the same price is VERY wishful thinking. That is why I broke down and just bought one of the last NIB.

I get surprised sometimes and the game will be rerun if there is crazy demand. But I think old pricing is never gonna happen. See Woz and hobbit for how NIB pricing moves over time ...

Quoted from PtownPin:

Hey theres a POTC for sale in the marketplace for $9500....there u go boys...put your money where your mouth is

But that one has "playfield issues" surely and is worthless according to some ...

Debating with with certain pinsiders is pointless. Once their mind is up they pointlessly beat their chests for months on a given topic, before being distracted by their next great crusade...

I don't think anybody is 100% certain of anything. Over a long enough period of time if demand stays high and keeps rising someone will make more. Look at mm. That took around two decades and ended up costing about double it's prior nib price though...

posts like this don't help the price. they are members here!

You would have to assume JJP staff are super stupid to not look at the pricing demands on their used pins. I don't think acknowledging this would really move the needle.

Now there is some value in having a game or two in your catalogue that is rare and is in demand. That can drive future sales due to FOMO on missing the next hot thing. Filling demand for that game can make some bucks. But there is an intangible benefit from the FOMO effect.

Stern rode that hard after Tron LE and ACDC LE prices spiked. They sold so many LEs of relatively subpar games after that due to FOMO.

FWIW I am an owner, figured a rerun was inevitable but still felt the game was well worth keeping; it has been my most played game since I have had it (now around 1 and a quarter years). Dialed-In gets a similar amount of play, just the games on Dialed In are often shorter.

I guess I lucked out in that my Pirates seems fine; no big unfixable drama. Playfield seems okay.

Bottom line is after looking at things develop I would be surprised if they end up doing another run now, and if they do it certainly won't be for $9500. That would be like expecting them to rerun WoZ for $6500 at this point. I mean really!

Anything is possible, but if licensing expired, even getting however many actors to sign off again and pay them again would be big barrier compared to rerunning something like ACDC where in theory you are just negotiating the agreement with a band representative. Not 23 different representatives...
