I'm planning out a custom multi-pin where I have multiple playfields I swap out. From what I've read modern playfields are all 20.25" wide and 42"-46"long. So it seems like any standard playfield would theoretically fit in any cabinet, as long as there's enough vertical clearance and I swap out the playfield hangers with the correct ones for that cabinet.

One thing I noticed in my collection is that my WPC & Stern machines have a lower shooter rod vs my System 11, which has me thinking that I need to look at WPC or Data East DMD cabinets or newer. For a donor game South Park and LW3 are on my short list. Assuming I can convert the gun on a LW3 cab over to a shooter rod, does this all sound reasonable?

I'll bet often the new hangers don't fit on the pf due to other mechs

Wouldn't count on being able to convert the gun cleanly
