    I pull the head off for every game I bring down. And sometimes pull the pf out to make it even lighter.

    My process now is to take a pic of each board in the head. I don't mark the connectors anymore. Then pull all connectors cut the zip ties and remove the carriage bolts. Then carry the head down, put something around the hinges so they don't scratch the cab then slide the cab down the steps and reassemble. Since I've done it a few times I usually can put the connectors back fairly quick. This method does take a little more time but saves your back.
